Minimeet

Post by Major_Tom »

..so Danny came up to pick up some Capri bits, so I figured it was a good time to get four Capris together, drive through town and then cruise up to an olde farm to take some pictures. And my mate in his Mustang came too. Massive compared to the Capris!

The A reg on the far left is formally a 2.0S, now a 2.9 Cosworth. I've been trying to get him to come onto the forum and come to CRaP, this is an important first step, he really enjoyed himself. His Capri had a power steering leak, "it's not too bad," he says, "about 1/2 a litre every 40 miles. I've got a bottle in the boot."

Notice the regulation amount of Capri window winding.

...going through town was awesome, people were amazed to see four of them together. Thanks to Daisy for the photos and everyone else for coming, was a fun afternoon 8-)

If you want to start off on the straight 6 turbo one as seen there, I think my mate is getting a V8 one soon so it'll be up for sale  it's quick.. heavy though.. they all are.

Plan is to eventually own a Bullitt model when I don’t have to do daily commute, sat in a few & just think they look so good. Mate in work runs a 2015 GT but gets only high teens out of it, 22 on a run  .
For past year I’ve been running this as a daily, and I can’t get enough of it. It’s partly why I’ve barely used the Capri, which I like just as much. Nothing sounds as good as a V8 but I’m well impressed with this Custom turbo model. This :ford: going to stay with me with for the foreseeable.

Was a brilliant day!

Great to see both Daisy and Tom again after so long, and was good fun blasting about the outskirts of Cambridge making a lot of noise

Also, I got some Slotmags out of it :D

We live on the corner of a main thoroughfare , part of the southern scenic route and monthly we get a parade of bikes and cars as they do their run ,just thinkin how good a line of capri's would look ,good on you guys and girls for putting on a capri show .
Agree with comments about v8's ,cant wait to get mine sorted

I can't say I disagree Hamish

I'm not sure I've decided yet.... Right now I need to get some new tyres on them first (currently has Ditchfinder 9000s and HedgeHunter 600s on them) but the plan is to whack them on the Laser and see how I cope - Thinking about buying some wider wheels for the rear as currently I have the original laser RS4s on the rear (almost sold the wider deep dish 7.5J RS4s I had on there, too lazy to put them back on) and they slide about all over the place and therefore thinking about getting some wide slots of some sort to keep the traction a bit :D

I also have 5 slots courtesy of Tom so could put some on the S as well as I hate the wheels on that, but it's not moving anytime soon anyway

Looks like a good meet.
It will be good to see the slotmags when they are fitted to one of Danny's fleet. :)

Great pics, looks like you guys had a fun day!

Pedantry time.... If the Mustang isn’t a V8 is it not a 4cyl 2.3 turbo (basically detuned Focus RS engine)? The yanks got a n/a 3.7 V6 as their entry level engine but it was never available here, and seems a bit pointless tbh.

I can recommend the new Mustang, it’s too long to fit in my garage though which helped sway me towards the RS. I’d like to try the latest GT with the 10-speed box, it’s meant to be very good.
