You only use an extinguisher in short bursts of a second or so. I would have thought they are more than adequate. Where did you get that info from Jason?Jasonmarie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 8:25 pm the little fire extinguishers we all have only last 10 secs top and that’s not going to put out a fag .

You'd have to charge the lawyer £1250 for the use of your fingers, as they do when charging for a signature.

Re: Fire Extinguisher Location
Some of you may be interested in this article that I’ve found on the net.
https://www.firesafetystore.co.uk/blog/ ... gK6ePD_BwE
What I think is important is that if you choose to carry an extinguisher, it should be securely fastened in an appropriate holder and, of course, easy to get at.
The forces exerted on a car that is involved in an accident, especially when it stops suddenly or rolls, can easily dislodge a “wedged” extinguisher.
As for location I would locate one at the front of the passenger seat and not the driver’s side. Although highly unlikely you don’t want to run the risk of a loose article ending up under the brake pedal at a critical moment.

Re: Fire Extinguisher Location
All good points. I hadn't really thought about a fire due to crash/accident, more so just the spontaneous fires which old cars can have due to a fault.
Re: Fire Extinguisher Location
So long as you dont put it where this guy has it you'll be ok! Seriously look at the pictures and see if you can work out the logic problem of his chosen mounting location

Re: Fire Extinguisher Location
I guess he thinks that if he should lift the bonnet and there's a fire, the extinguisher is right there ready. Although it's unlikely that he would be able to pick it up!

Morning Major!
I think his extinguisher location is the dog's bollocks.
He smells burning.
Jumps out in panic.
Lifts the bonnet.
And the whole lot goes "WOOF"

Re: Fire Extinguisher Location
Years ago when I did a bit of fire training, I was told that you should never fully open the bonnet when something in the engine bay is on fire as it feeds the fire with a fresh supply of oxygen. Just pop the bonnet open and point the extinguisher in the gap.
