As already confirmed, they are a push fit. I never had a return one fail though. Maybe less pressure involved? Perhaps it is the float valve closing which causes a little pulse of pressure, enough to push the pipe out? (Randomly stabbing in the dark here, just a theory.)
Minder Capri caught fire
Re: Minder Capri caught fire
Re: Minder Capri caught fire
Its odd that, having bought my first Capri in 1985, and owned literally dozens over the next 30 years, I learned a lot of stuff, but these days it never occurs to me that other owners don't know it all already. It takes random posts to jog my memory.
Maybe I need to start a new thread titled 'oh by the way, I just remembered'.

If an honest man is wrong and after demonstrating that he is wrong he either stops being wrong or stops being honest
Re: Minder Capri caught fire
Gonna get some araldite and a fire extinguisher fitted ASAP

Re: Minder Capri caught fire
Think a jubilee clip is more reversible than araldite is... would certainly make it easier to change the hose when ethanol (apparently) will eat it inside out

Re: Minder Capri caught fire
The araldite is to stick the fire extinguisher to the dashboard
Re: Minder Capri caught fire
Where would you be fitting the jubilee clip?
Cannot just clamp the hose to the brass insert, as that won't stop it coming out.
Hence Araldite or something similar.

Re: Minder Capri caught fire
It isn't the hose that's in question Danny, it is the actual inlet (and possibly return) pipes on the carb itself. As they are only a push fit there is a possibility of it coming loose. Although a 'reversible' method, as you describe it, would be good in case they need to be removed at some point.

Oh I see apologies - I thought it was the hose not the inlet itself!pbar wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 6:09 amIt isn't the hose that's in question Danny, it is the actual inlet (and possibly return) pipes on the carb itself. And my apologies too, as my initial reply to your query, reads a little abrupt.D366Y wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 8:15 amOh I see apologies - I thought it was the hose not the inlet itself!pbar wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 6:09 amIt isn't the hose that's in question Danny, it is the actual inlet (and possibly return) pipes on the carb itself. I basically meant the same thing, just not quite so thoughtfully.

No worries, I know that's not your intended projection but the internet makes us all seem angry and blunt when we don't mean to

Yes good old text depriving us the nuance of tone and subtlety of expression.

Re: Minder Capri caught fire
What's that supposed to mean??
Re: Minder Capri caught fire
How dare you use that tone with me!

Re: Minder Capri caught fire
You see, that's where it can so easily go wrong.
It wasn't a tone, it was a shade.
