This is going to be interesting....
If an honest man is wrong and after demonstrating that he is wrong he either stops being wrong or stops being honest

If this is a genuine enquiry, I suggest using the Hagerty Insurance valuation tool:

Excuse my flippant comment above, now I see the pics you have a 2.8 Special. Lasers were 1.6 and 2.0 only.

Looks nice and not many models like that are under £10,000 now, but it all depends on overall condition etc.

Looks good!
I can't recall ever seeing a Special with a vinyl roof.

Thank you,
just goes to show what I know about Capris,
It was my missus Nans, she drove it about a mile so I used to give it a run on a Sunday, has a load of body work done to it 2 years ago and a re-spray so looks amazing!
I followed her hurst in it with black ribbons on

That was a nice gesture for the funeral, I'm sure she would have loved that

From Wikipedia;
November 1984 onwards, the Capri was sold only in Britain, with only right hand drive cars being made from this date. The normally aspirated 1.6 and 2.0 variants were rebranded with a new trim level – "Lasers" – which featured a fully populated instrument pod, leather gear lever, leather steering wheel, four-spoke alloy wheels as used on the S models, an electric aerial and colour-coded grille and mirrors.

Plenty of helpful tips and advice on here :)

Although it sounds like the only difference between the laser and my special would be the four spoke alloys...

Yes alloys and different interior trim

Any other differences are mostly mechanical.

The small matter of the engine springs to mind. :xd:

I assume the vinyl roof was either retro fitted or it's had a replacement tailgate, as that hasn't been done as you would expect?

How would you expect the roof to be done?
She did have a big smash in it years ago and twisted the assessors are to let her restore it as it was pretty much a rite off!

It should be around the back window on the tailgate too. I didn't notice until Bug mentioned it.

It must of been a new tail gate then when it was brought back from the dead!
It has a tiny bit of rust in the lower corner of the window at the back coming through so maybe il wrap it when I come to sorting it , the boot is the only bit that hasn’t got fresh paint on it!

So how does the vinyl meet the spoiler? I’m going to see if I can find some pictures

It doesn't meet the spoiler, it is vinyl covered down about 2" below the window. The vinyl is finished off with a metallic strip which runs across the tailgate to line up with the finishing trims on the rear pillars.
