Mk3 bumper

Post by PintoPunk91 »

Evening all, just looking for a bit of insight.

Im looking to change out the standard bumpers and end caps on my mk3. I was just wondering if anyone has done this before and if so, what parts did you use?

Thanks in advance.

When you say change them out do you mean replace the existing Mk3 bumpers with better examples of the same parts or are you looking for ideas of alternatives that will change the look of your car such as Mk 2 bumpers, Tickford type grp bumpers, large US Federal bumpers ?

Bet that is the first time anyone has ever suggested that, on any forum, about any car, ever. :xd:

Something like the mk2 bumpers. Ideally something without the end caps. And no to the US spec stuff.

Its probably worth posting up Mk2 bumpers and brackets in the Parts Wanted section.

I have mk2 chrome bumpers, used the brackets for mk2 items for the rear, have a feeling the front are the same as standard mk3 ugly ones. It's pretty straightforward, just unbolt the originals and rebolt the new ones. It will leave holes in the wings unfortunately. I taped over the holes, filled it from the back, peeled the tape once dry, and painted the squares. Doesn't look too bad.

Aye, deffinitely go down the mk2 bumper route i think.. Need to get her roadworthy and MOT'd first. Then I've got LED Halos to fit. Busy boy after Lockdown.
