Fitting a Revotec electric fan wiring help

im fitting a Revotec electric fa in a mk2 3000 need to connect into the 12v supply

ideally to the ignition , so when you turn off the fan will be off i dont have a capri wiring manual , appreciate any advice on the wiring

I wired mine through a temp sensor soo it will continue after key off until cool (won't flatten battery as wont run that long)

Use a relay with a 12v feed from the battery.
Switch it either with a signal switch from in the car somewhere, or maybe one of the spare ignition live feeds from the fusebox.
I assume this will all be going through some kind of temp sensor so it's not running all the time?

my query is the 12v supply , without a manual which would be the ignition source on a mark 2 capri

Looking at this picture I'd say off either the black/yellow wire off the back of the ignition barrel?

You know, I honestly cannot remember, it was so long ago.
But yes, the wiring diagram with the fan is a good'un.
Keep all the wiring as short as possible up the front near the fan and battery.
Maybe hide the relay inside a headlamp bowl? Or somewhere out of the way?

It depends whether you want to be able to switch it off manually via a switch on the dash, in which case you could pick up a live feed from behind the ignition barrel and run it through switch on the dash somewhere.
But if you want it all to be auto controlled then just run the feed from the permanent live wire under the ignition as suggested.

As an aside to this, the fiddly bit is passing a single thin wire through a bulkhead grommet.
Top tip for this?
Take the plastic outer part of a Bic pen (other makes are available) and push it through the grommet.
Pass the wire through the pen then slide the plastic off the wire once it is through the grommet.

If you`re going to wire to a constant live (which I know many manufacturers do) why not just use an `eye` connector and connect it straight to the battery positive (via a fuse): less faffing under the dash and keeps wiring as short and neat as possible? You could put the relay in the headlamp bowl, as Bug says, and it`d be almost invisible.

Edit: don`t know if this helps. Thermal switch closes, activates coil in relay, closes relay points, connects fan to battery.

Yes, I was getting a little over-complicated tbh.
Was thinking more along the lines of extra lights etc.

Hard to recall from the early 90s, but I had a Pacet fan and I'm not certain there actually was a separate relay at all. Think it was all in the single unit with the temp controller.
In your case, now I've actually bothered to look at the wiring diagram properly, it seems they suggest just one common 12v feed, split to the two components. In that case, straight from the battery.

Reading the instructions you have, it appears you have a ready-made harness?

So, as suggested above, a simple connection to the battery, with an inline fuse would do the trick.

fantastic thanks for all your advice , i;m going to order an in line fuse and then i;ll make the connection to the battery , kit looks very good ive installed the fan its a 14" and fits perfectly to the rad

Is it a puller, between the rad and the engine?
Mine was a pusher, that fitted on the front of the rad. Hidden from sight and left more space at the front of the block.

its a pusher so it wall also cool the engine bay as well
