Radiator re-core, how much should I look to pay?
Radiator re-core, how much should I look to pay?
Hi guys,
My radiator has sprung a leak so I'm thinking should I get it repaired or go new after market.
Does anyone have any idea of re-core costs?
Cheers, Dave

If you asked me that question 30 odd years ago I would have said try a egg white as I run a escort on a egg white ok . But always go new not worth wasting your money on old now .
Ps leave it a few months to order as they will be shut now .

If you've got a proper original radiator with brass tanks, get it recored, should be under £100 I would have thought.
If its a plastic tanked one, then just replace with aftermarket.

I got some quotes a few years ago, one at £234, one at £185,, one at £175 and one at £144.
In the end I just bought a new rad, the re-core only offered a one year guarantee whereas I'd have more faith in a whole new rad
Cheers

Blimey - maybe thats a reflection of when I last had a recore done. Sorry to mislead slightly.
If its for a 1.6 Laser then get a new one, theres loads about, the club does one with brass tanks.

It was for one of the pinto cars, can't remember if it was the 1.6 or the 2.0, but either way they're probably the same anyway

Glad to hear that, kind of means I wasn’t talking complete balls earlier in the thread.
