The aftermarket struts I got from Martin work a treat fella. Rear heated screen works fine, albeit a couple of dodgy strips but as I never use it I wont get too stressed...
The main thing is these struts are definitely conductive but hey getting these from Martin you always know you get the best available
Having seen a couple of faulty strips its another job to add to my "To Do" list, but that conductive paint stuff sounds just the job for this. Suppose I am lucky the rear heated window works at all as I only pushed the switch about 3 times since I owned the Laser

Im still a bit confused on how to do this. Do you have to mask up each strip on the window and paint it with the conductive paint from side to side?

Hi mate,
Steve (stevemarl) posted this reply on a thread by Paul (pbar) a while back which tells you how to find the "break" in the heater strips if you have not already found it (them) ! Hope this helps...
Regarding the actual repair itself, once you find the "break" in the strip, which could be as little as a scratch, or more obvious than that, you just need to mask off above and below the area on the strip that needs repairing then just "touch up" the break with the conductive paint. Think at least two coats is required, then once dry just carefully remove the masking tape from around your repair. Its worth noting that you may have a few breaks in the same strip so I am guessing you repair one then re-test that strip with the multi meter again to see if any more "breaks" are in it, then if so repair that one in the same way until you know for sure there are no more breaks in the strip.

Thanks, bookmarked and saved for later! Need to focus on getting the car back on the road and a new engine installed and some new tyres fitted as my old ones are over 10 years old but this is next on the list of things to do as I'm fed up of not being able to see out of my rear window every winter! lol.

Just fitted a pair of these thanks to Martin, and they work great
Did you get yours re-gassed then Andy, or are they old replacements, or new ones even, as I think all three of those options are available, I'm just curious for future reference.

Hi Paul,
They are new aftermarket struts, I just swapped the ends over with my old ones.
They work great and cheaper than the regas I had on my last Capri 5 years ago.
