Weber 32/36 Gasket Drawing

Post by pbar »

Anyone have or know of a dimensioned or to scale drawing of a Weber 32/36 top gasket. There are several gaskets to be found on the net but haven't seen this one anywhere yet. I can program a new one in following a spare I have but just wondering if there is one already. Thanks.

I assume you want to make a new one? Is it worth all the hassle when you can get a new one for a fiver from Webcon?

It's not quite just that Paul, no. But it isn't great hassle doing something like that, a couple of hours to program and just seconds to machine cut.

By the way that's £11.29 with VAT and postage.

Point taken Paul. Perhaps someone on here has an intact used one that you could copy. It could be a little business if you can exactly copy them and knock a few out to sell.

I do have a used spare that I could copy, but obviously much easier if one already exists. I can find various gasket drawings on the net but not for the 32/36 yet.

Paul,
I have this if it`s any use? I can obviously put measurements to it easily enough, what would you need?. TBH, I`ve printed this onto gasket paper in the past, cut round it and punched out the holes, shows what a tight-arsed git I am, I just like to do everything `in house` (literally :D )

Thanks Steve, I shall use that, along with my own, to create a spot on standard.

Paul, the 55mm is to the exact centre point of the bolt holes, felt this was better than the outside dimension as that varies from gasket to gasket (overlaps body)

Dunno if I have said before but I scan any gasket that will fit on the scanner (sometimes you can scan the gasket face of the actual part ), cept head gaskets or exhaust gaskets that need to be made outa stuff I can't make , then when I want another gasket I put an A4 sized bit of gasket paper in the printer ( photo paper ....gasket paper, printer can't tell the difference ) print it and cut it out . Just make sure the printer is set to the right scale  ,........that never happened to me........any body need some Guzzi rocker gaskets that are 125% the right size :banghead:
Sometimes I talk to myself ... and we both have a good laugh

I have exactly the same, a folder full of water pumps, thermostats, carbs etc - anything that`s made of paper. And a set of different diameter punches to make the holes. I find it quite satisfying to make myself (although the carb IS a bit fiddly) But, hell. if someone wants to make perfect CAD, laser cut ones - I`m not going to complain!

Looks good Paul. What material did you use in the end?

You're a clever bloke Paul. Are you going to make a batch and sell them?

That's a nice comment, thank you Paul. I haven't really thought about selling them on, I just wanted a large batch so I can have them to hand when needed. But I can pass them on I guess, to anyone who needs them.

Paul,
lovely job - and you`ve managed to find, and use, one of the few things we still make in this country too! Flexoid?

A job well done!
Yes, you probably could have bought a gasket but there's nothing as satisfying as doing the job yourself. Making it yourself is also the best way to ensure that the part meets your exacting standards.

Andrew.

That`s one of the great things about cars of this era, there IS so much you can do yourself, you can still get properly involved with the machine.
