Capri For Sale in Showroom

Post by Andrew 2.8i »

It's not often these days that you see a Capri for sale in a car showroom, but here is a 1.6 Laser:

I think £6495 is top money though, especially for a car with no MOT currently and a bit of a history where corrosion is concerned.
Still, it's always nice to see a Capri.

By the way, it's in Garej Felinfach if anybody is interested.

I thought it was illegal to sell a car without an MOT? At least for a dealer.
Garej Felinfach, is that Germany?

I didn't know about the MOT thing.
The dealer, I would imagine, will MOT the car for the buyer.

I think the MOT issue arises with a dealer because it would be illegal to sell something which was not fit for purpose or of `merchantable quality` and without an MOT - I mean you couldn`t even drive it away you`d have to trailer it. A private individual doesn`t have the same restrictions, it`s just sold as seen. I`m sure I did read that once, but as always I could be wrong, rules change et cetera.

It would be sold with a new MOT I should think, that's what most dealers seem to do. No point in giving it an MOT now I suppose in case it is stood in the dealership for months.

Bet it was one of those jaw dropping moments when you saw that in the showroom. Another one of those moments yesterday in fact as this was spotted, in a local garage near me -

You saw one recently didn't you Steve, along with a Smart on the same day?

That Capri on the ramps has no tax or MOT, so am assuming it's in the process of getting ready after a lay off/restoration? But I don't know. That particular everyday garage does have classics in there frequently.

Thanks Jason,
Usually it's the South East that is bathed in sunshine while it pours down here.
Sounds like it was the other way around yesterday!

Nice spot and good to see.
It looks as though you must have been shaking with excitement too, as your photo is quite blurry! :D

It's always a nice surprise to see a Capri.
Also, if the garage sell it to a local buyer there will be another Capri in the area that might go to shows.

Oh yeah, you`re right, completely forgot about that ;) But I`ve been all over the place this summer and that`s the only one I`ve seen. You``ve had half a dozen!

Paul,
I meant you`d had half a dozen sightings, I didn`t specify that you`d seen half a dozen different cars ;)

(I did actually do my utmost to BE off when we had maths, that`s true!)

Well as a couple of cars live close by, I've actually had dozens of sightings!

Funnily enough today, locally, at three different times I saw an E reg Fiesta, an F reg Fiesta and a Mark 1 yellow Escort!

How about Dai and Geraint? How quickly you've forgot your past now that you've upped sticks and moved out to that fancy Cambridgeshire.... :D
