Wet Running Today

Post by Cosmicbike »

Well after a good few months of keeping her nice and dry, we went out in the wet for the first time today. Not raining, just wet, so avoided all the big puddles.
Wasn't on the plan, but it's MOT day tomorrow and it's going to be raining anyway, so figured a test of everything today was best. Tomorrow will be a 20 minute thrash to get things nice and warm, then sit fingers crossed at the local garage. Owner is a classic car nut, Bugatti generally, hopefully that will help..

I was out and about earlier today just for a short loop around the suburbs. Nick got about three messages from his colleagues about a Capri seen in the area!!

I'm glad I went out, was only popping to Screwfix and then collecting my daughter from a sleepover, but got at least 3 headlight flashes and waves, made a rather damp cyclist smile and the usual 'My Dad used to have on of them' from the 40-something Mums on pickup duty (that's 40 years old +, not that many Mums, would have been one hell of a sleepover!!).
Going to be a shame to take her off the road, driving has become fun again, but there's work to be done that I know about even before any potential issues raised tomorrow.

It's always good to hear that the Capri still has a place in the affections of the public. It can't help put a smile on our faces too when we attract so much attention.
Good luck with the MOT tomorrow.

Andrew.

Had a nice 12 mile drive before dropping off at the garage this morning. Shame it's so wet out there, I had water in the passenger footwell, one bit of welding I know about already, and the reason the carpets are out. A good blast down the A30 and then 45 minutes sat chatting with my fingers crossed.

Passed :) :) :)

3 advisories, one for each wing being corroded and one for a small oil leak. Pleased with that.

Also had a chat with the garage owner about engine swaps, no issues noted so that's another job over Winter.

Mileage from last years MOT to today a princely 163 miles, 155 of those by me.

She's tucked up in the garage now, before the real rain came in this afternoon. I was expecting a fail which would have made the decision to take it off the road over the Winter really easy, but now I can use it, I kinda want to
Tax runs out at the end of the month so maybe I should get it SORN'd and then pull one of the wings off, then I can't drive it.

Ahh that's such great news re the mot mate especially as you convinced yourself it would not pass. I never sorn B112 but tbh suppose it's a 85% sorn  Keeping it on tax you do get some stunning dry, crisp winters day that are just beautiful for a drive. You prob get even more attention too being as there are even less Capris out and about  As soon as the salt goes down that's it I deffo don't take B112 out until I know its all cleared up so yep suppose I do a 'taxed and ready to go, conditions permitting sorn' :)

Good luck with the work needs doing to yours mate and if you keep in taxed hope you manage to get out for some great drives imbetween.

All the best

Nick

Well done on the pass, great news :)
Got my 2.8 out today (Nick ignore the next bit), bit of light drizzle on the way to Maidstone just waiting to see what happens on the way home!

Peter, by "drizzle" I hope you mean what you get by mixing the juices of 1 1/2 Lemons with 85g of Castor Sugur creating a lovely topping to be poured over a warm lemon cake, not forgetting to prick holes in the cake beforehand, thus allowing the sauce to melt into the cake itself
