Headlight Grilles Anyone?

Post by Jake »

I've got myself a set of Perfect Condition Headlight grilles, would anyone like a set of re-manufactured ones?
I know I can get them made but I don't know how much it would cost yet, would anyone like a set and how much would you be willing to pay, bear in mind I have been offered £150 for these by more than 1 person

I am meeting with the place which can re-produce them tomorrow afternoon so I should start to get some prices together.
I'm not going to try and sell them for 100x what they cost me, im just after a few penny's for my time.
I'm not going to be getting masses of them made so they are still "rare-ish"

First come first serv :D

Any chance of a pic of them on a capri.and wat wuld the mot say about them.wil it affect the light beams.or just remove and replace after mot.i like the idea of something a bit different but need to see it first before I part with 100 odd quid.
Cheers mate

Not a picture of my Capri but shows you what they look like.
No idea on MOT I don't think it would effect it, there are quite a few cars with grills or mesh over headlights and they are all legal.

I've had a look at the MOT guide for headlamps and im pretty sure it will be fine.

http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_170.htm

They cant fail you on something which isn't listed, as long as your lights will still emit enough light and the grills don't stop excessive light getting through it will be fine :)
If they did fail you on it I would want a really good explanation :)

i do like that look with the original grille. i was going to go down the mk2 grille route but im unsure now. i like that look with the grille over the headlights and my car being all black and chrome i think it will look pretty bad. what will the price be for a set of headlight grilles???

They are pretty cool. Very retro. Do let us know if you are able to produce some?

Bleedin Hell Danny. This was over eight years ago mate.! Jakes manufacturers are dragging their heels a bit ain't they  Wonder if he ever did get anywhere with them as he never did get back on his original thread . He had a few interested back then as well. Maybe he did not get a anywhere with them. Reckon like your good self there would still be some interest as nobody seems to sell anything like this. You thinking of these for the 3.0 fella or the 2.0.?? Looking back over this thread, now you brought it up after all these years , I seen someone at the time thought that CCI were looking at knocking some up. Might be worth chatting to them in case they have some knocking about.???? Or Tickover, Martin might for some reason have a set lying around from previous breaking/project.?? :goodluck:

I know it was a long shot but it says Jake was last online a week or two ago so thought it was worth a punt!
I was thinking for the 3.0, it has a rear louvre and side louvres on the quarters so thought I'd see if I can keep the look going!

It's not top of the list right now but just thought I'd try to start sorting it early haha

Flash text me. So im here

I'm sorry to say i got messed about by 2 different companys who could make these for me. That meant i had them off my car for about 6 months while i was waiting for them to get remanufactored and had to pull them from the fabricators, i couldn't risk them being lost sat around in a warehouse for months doing nothing.

I kind of lost intrest in getting these remade.

Plus a selfish reason, my cars unique. And i like being the only one at the show with them and people having never seen them before.

Ive been offered many many hundreads of great british pounds to sell them many times. But they will be staying on my car.

I have no solid plans to remake them yet, but its not totally out of possibility. but won't be happening any time soon.
I have thought about making some from steel myself for my other cars. So if/when that happens i might make a couple extras.

Here a pic of the car with them. Feel free to try and replicate them.

And because Gary poked me to reply. Heres a picture of us couple years ago

I have posted one of these threads onto someone who has recently managed to make a set using my grilles fitted to my car.
Hopefully he registers and looks at the interest, so that he can make some more.

Hi.i found someone selling some headlight grills.I wasn't sure what they were. I paid a fiver for them! Looking on the Internet to See if anyone else had them. This is the only thread I can find who has the same ones. Has any one else got them or are they really that rare?? Does anyone know if these was an after market item that could be brought or someone has just made them up? Thanks all!!.

That's a great buy!
They were available as aftermarket accessories, although I'm not sure who made them. No doubt there will be some home-made specials out there too, but without seeing a photo of yours it's impossible to say which you have.

Andrew.
