Mk3 Cortina help

Post by Lord Flasheart »

Evening all, apologies if this is in the wrong place but posting this to help my mate who is trying to find a manifold for a customers incredibly original 1974 Mk2 Cortina. The current manifold is porous & letting water into the outer 2 cylinders & seized the engine.

Attached photo is of the Inlet Manifold off the 1974 Mk3 Cortina 1.6 we are recommissioning.
It has a 1.6 Pinto Low Compression engine (TL16L) which according to Wiki was used in the Capri from 1975, so hopefully the Capri community may be able to help.

The part number cast in to the aluminium is 75HF-9425-CA but I haven’t managed to cross reference that with a Finis code. I have seen similar manifolds but with the crankcase breather port in a different position but that wouldn't matter particularly. The key issue is the 2 bolt fixing for the carb.

Currently full up and no more space but I still want a 2.8...

I think I may have one that looks like this or similar in a box somewhere (no promises) - let me see if I can find it and I'll let you know?

Cheers

No idea but it's cheap!

Have looked in one storage place for that manifold but can't find it, must be at my dad's place if it's anywhere and am there on Thursday and the weekend so will see if I can find it at all

Haven't found it yet, got annoyed looking for it over the weekend but realised as soon as I got home Sunday night that I think I know where it is so will ask my dad to look tonight when he is home - fingers crossed it's there (and that it's the right part!)

Found both the manifolds I have in the garage... one is a 32/36 weber manifold, the other is a 34ICH manifold :(
The 34ICH looks very similar though so not sure if it would be usable? The part number is 82HF-9425-AA but let me know if it's wanted/needed - you can have the carb as well if you want it, depends if he's desperate to use the car or not I guess haha

Hi Danny,

Many thanks mate, very much appreciated ;)

Any chance you could take a couple of photos of what you have & either post on here or PM / e-mail me. I can then forward to my mate & he can decide what he could possibly use or not ;)

Many thanks again for all your efforts

Cheers

Hi Gary, here are the pictures I have - if it's of interest I can try cleaning it up a bit but it just went straight into the shed when it came off so hasn't seen light for a few years

I also still have the instruction manual for the carb as well - I definitely know where that is so won't take long to find!

Cheers
