Aviation History

I know a lot of people here are also into planes. I just wonder how many of you, like me, were completely unaware of the crucial role air power had played in the American War of Independence ?

Just thinking further about this, it really does show the incredible ingenuity of these truly great early American engineers. A full century before the internal combustion engine would be conceived, the only form of power available at that time would have been James Watt`s new fangled version of the Newcomen engine: one can only imagine the fear struck into the hearts of the Brits manning the airports as these steam powered leviathons swoopped down upon them, banners flying! Yee Haa!
