Is anybody else disgusted at how the MP Mark Field is being treated? I'm sat watching the news and he's being demonised by just about everybody, with some equating his actions to those who commit violence against women in general. Some prat has just asked how victims of domestic violence must feel watching the footage of the incident, even commenting that the room was full of well off, white, 'right wing' males as if any of those things are relevant.

Lets get this right, protestors infiltrate a political event disguised as memebers of staff in some cases, one of them manages to completely evade security, enters the room in which the MP's are gathered and heads towards the Chancellor Of The Exchequer. Mark Field sticks out his arm initally to block the protesters path and then, when it is clear they aren't going to be deterred that easily, gets hold of them and escorts them out. Fair enough his actions were robust but the protester is clearly resisting to an extent. I don't see any truly excessive force, and certainly not a criminal act as is being suggested. I don't even see why the protester's gender has to come into it, is it impossible for a women to present a threat? We're all meant to be equal in any case.

There are only two parties to blame for this; the event security (although I have some sympathy for them in that they were overwhelmed by the number of protestors), and the protestor herself who chose to enter a room which was supposed to be a secure area as it was full MP's who are a potential target. No doubt the media etc. won't be happy until the poor bloke is totally humiliated and has seen his career ruined.

Has this country gone mad, or is it me?

It's not you, the country is fucked, PC, race card, feminists and numerous other things that get banded about. The media also like to jump on the bandwagon and whip up a frenzy over what is in reality not even worth the airtime.
None of these protesters do their causes any good in the way they conduct themselves.

I can’t watch any of the news anymore as it gives me blood pressure and bad thoughts about my mother in law ( think they have been there a long time )

Charles Dickens wrote over 100 years ago don’t trust MPs vicars and bankers and it’s still true today .

I like the weather bit at the end of the news but I can get that on you tube now .

If this was a male protester no one would care, or Mark Field would have been praised for averting a potential threat.

Women want equality and that's ok, but that means the bad bits too.

As Martin said the country is fucked, with no signs of improvement

I don't get why it's a big deal apart from the fact he is an MP...

If he was a security guard seen escorting the protester(s) out in that fashion it's no big deal, he's doing a job, but as soon as someone else does it's a problem?

I think it's just MPs in general in cases like this; if it were me who forced this person out, no big deal, but as soon as I'm an MP and deemed important, it seems that I would have to be a flake and take the beating because I wouldn't be allowed to defend myself, and then also wouldn't be allowed to prosecute said person?

I know MPs get a lot of stick and a lot of it is justified but in some cases they just can't win

Couldn't agree more, when John Prescott punched the guy who egged him, he wasn't suspended, wasn't bullied into resignation by the media etc.

Had it have been a woman who egged him..

Not condoning violence in any way shape or form here, just a bit pissed off with all the double standards. If it had been a Male protestor who was escorted off by a female MP, she would have been hailed a hero. This story should have ended when she was escorted out, the media are very good at helping to end careers.

Totally agree this country is fucked, road's falling to bits, NHS on it's knees, kid's stabbing each other nearly every day although because of PC no-one dare mention the majority of this is black kid's stabbing black kid's and 99.9% is in fact gang related but you can't say it as your immediately branded as racist if you do..

:agree: :agree:

Can you somehow extend the acronym to include single with no children men? We get screwed but unfortunately by the councils and governments rather than by some busty blonde.

I won't comment on the rest of the state of the country because I'd bust the PC and swear filter big time!
