WYE Fords Monmouth Cortina Day

Post by Caprifan Rob »

Went to above show today, really enjoyed my time there, learned two things on the way though.
1 BBC Weather forecast is :turd: , forecast sun all day, chucked it down all the way there.
2 MAP APP on mobiles is also :turd: , took me down a farm track to a dead end

Anyway, lots there & it did clear up from 11:00 to be a sunny & warm day.

Capris first;

Thanks for the pics Rob :)

Saw some pics inc your car on Facebook, taken by Kev from the South Wales XR Owners Club who won best stand.

Weather is a joke and not much better for this week  Missed a show yesterday due to the weather, so hope next Sunday is dry at least for me and Nige to do a local show.

Hi Rob,
Brilliant photos, thanks for uploading them.
There are some amazing cars at this show, particularly the mark 2 Escorts and the Taunus coupe. It's good to see a decent turn out of Capris too, which is always a good thing!

Andrew.

Cheers Andrew, it was good to see a lot of different cars as you tend to see the same ones locally at different shows.

Yes, amazingly, just the one RS. In green. & lots of chrome engine bits ..
Blue beast looks good as did all the XR cars, nice show, not the usual modern Focus/Fiesta fest. :D

 Nice photos and a good variety too Rob. Glad the weather improved. The Mk 1 Cortina Woody, late Zodiac and selection of brown Mk4 Cortina's caught my eye.

Cheers Nige, owners of Zodiac parked up, lifted out deck chairs @ sat and watched loads of people admire their car all day. Haven’t seen a woody like that MK1 in person before, took that pic of the line of brown Cortina’s as you rarely see one let alone a line up of them. Guess brown was big in late 70s 8-)

Indeed, didn't know that were that many brown Mk4 Cortina's left (sadly, rust and banger racing have put pay to that). Good to see though as they were good workhorses, for family and Co car users alike. Great 70's colour.
That Woody must be rare and I think that wood effect might have been an option?
That Zodiac has to be rare; I have only ever seen a couple plus I think the Consul/Granada superceded it?
