Torque Converter

Post by D366Y »

Afternoon all!
Anyone has a Torque Converter for a C3 auto box - it has four bolts holding it on, I know some have three

Any help would be great

Cheers!

I am going to have a look but I spotted one on eBay the other week what was for a Capri , Cortina and Granada.
And funny I did think of you as it was new .
I should see these things and just post up dan .

Will check again dan

Found this Dan https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2271578205

Yes it only has 3 holes

And this but only has 3 holes
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2281465706

This one Dan does have 4 bolts but a long bloody drive

Cheers Jason, I saw the first two but not the last one - annoying it is so far away and is the whole gearbox as well when I only want the converter

It is seeming impossible to find one which is a pain!
I've asked Martin but he doesn't think he will have one, CCI have already said they don't stock them and have no idea where to get them - fat lot of good that was paying for membership! :crying:

Could you get it reconditioned?

What happened to cause you to need a new converter?

Might pay to ring Chiltern Transmissions - 01494-534805. I'm not sure that they do automatics, but they may know someone who could help you.

When I was driving towards Reading and it started making a horrible noise, the garage has stripped the engine down and nothing else is loose or making a noise anywhere so the only guess could be the torque converter really - if not I give up!!

There's nothing else left to be changed in the engine at all apart from the crankshaft, everything else was brand new and fitted and everything has been checked and is the correct tightness so I'm at a loss to what else it could be?

Martin has one so might as well change it and try that - £90 for the part and changing it seems like a much simpler fix rather than changing the crankshaft and hoping that's the cause

Sods law isn't it? spend ages looking for part, find obscure part, three appear on ebay a week later
Unbelievable - Barely said it two days ago!!
Good find Jason and thanks for your continued search! Shame it's collection only from Manchester really - I can't justify £80quid in fuel there and back for a £10 part

I'd be willing to pick that up for your Danny if it helps, not too far away. (for nothing of course)

Obviously we would then have to organise a courier to get it to you, not sure how much they would charge?

But it is an option if you wish to look into that.

Thanks for the kind offer Paul - I'll look into a courier and let you know!

Cheers
