Capri Spotted on TV
I was watching "Find It, Fix It, Flog It" the other day, and what should Henry and Simon see in a barn?
The unmistakeable shape of a Capri can be seen in the background. Curiously, the lads seem more interested in a few sheets of wood.....

Re: Capri Spotted on TV
As Nick correctly pointed out, they were in a barn! I can't remember what part of the country though, sorry.Jasonmarie wrote:Well spotted and what a good picture , I wonder where they were ?
It was quite an interesting episode as Henry actually selected a car from the barn as one of his items to restore.
It was a series 2 Escort RS Turbo that looked in pretty good shape on the outside. Sadly though, the sills and rear chassis legs were badly corroded, therefore it was decided not to do anything with the car because the cost of repairs would have been more than the car was worth.
The independant valuer agreed with that decision as she felt that they only sell for £5K in immaculate condition. I'm not sure about that as I'm pretty sure I've seen them sell for more......

Re: Capri Spotted on TV
That's a very nice example indeed!
The car in the programme (G911TTA) wasn't a total basket case, but they were quoted at £8-10K for a total restoration. The MOT history reveals that there have been advisories for corrosion since 2008, obviously this had not been addressed. The last MOT was in July 2011. The programme was first broadcast a few years ago (2016), so that might account for the lower valuation of the car.
I thought one of the current owners of the car looked as if he was going to cry when they told him how much the repairs would have been! Although the other part-owner probably wouldn't have been too upset as he had a barn full of cars, as can be seen in the screenshot above.
It was good to see a car on the show instead of the usual bits of furniture.

As I recall, it was on a farm, so I'm guessing that classifies it as a barn?Jasonmarie wrote: was it a real barn or a warehouse ? As I wonder when a shed becomes a barn and a barn becomes a warehouse ?
I eagerly await the 1st of April 2020 to see if I've won....

Re: Capri Spotted on TV
Another unlikely Capri TV spot, this time on "Dom on the Spot".
For anybody who is not familiar with the programme, here is a short synopsis:
Dom Littlewood goes on patrol with various law enforcement agencies and the officers explain to him why they have issued fines for various misdemeanors.
Today, Dom got quite excited when he saw a gold mark 2 Capri with a bike rack containing a Raleigh Chopper (was it you, Andy? ) He referred to the car and bike combo as "two iconic pieces of furniture"
That said, it's great to see that the Capri is still highly regarded in the affections of the non-Capri owning population.

Another unlikely Capri TV spot....a white mark 3 is shown in the latest advert for the Dacia Sandero, of all things!
I'll try to get a screen capture next time I see the ad.

Re: Capri Spotted on TV
Thank goodness for that as I haven't seen the advert since, despite watching the adverts and using the actual TV shows to have drink and toilet breaks (in that order)….Caprifan Rob wrote:Got it

Re: Capri Spotted on TV
Yet another Capri question on a TV quiz....
This time it was on 15 to 1 and the question was exactly the same as the question asked a little while back on The Chase. Perhaps the same question setter works for both shows.
This time the contestant knew the correct answer!
