I "wheely" need to get out more...
So, I been wondering of ways to give my spare wheel a bit of extra protection and came up with this...
https://youtu.be/tZVtKif7FvQ
And yep I know yesterday was 1st April, but its no April Fools prank...although methinks alot might think it is and I am !!!

If you don't have the standard piece of wooden board it's a good idea, otherwise you have too much time on your hands Nick

And when you tap around the wheel she was laughing her head of .
I think this is something colin who does the Capri dash mats could make . Also just a quick question did you use a special knot for the string ?

Thank you kind sir ! Might seem a bit OTT but not only does it keep off the dust but if i was clumsy enough to drop something like keys then it will protect the 4 SpokeNot_Anumber wrote:Thats a good idea

Hi Nick,
I's a good idea, but it needs to be bigger to protect the rim.
Andrew.

Is there any thing on the market that looks after your RIM ? As I am sure I heard there is a special Rimming Tool on a web site ?Andrew 2.8i wrote:Hi Nick,

Theres just no pleasing you Andrew !!Andrew 2.8i wrote:I's a good idea, but it needs to be bigger to protect the rim.
I do have the 2.8 floorboard so this carpet just gives the main section of wheel a bit more protection and it keeps it warm and cosy at night, a bit like Jason with his rimming tool

Re: I "wheely" need to get out more...
Hi Paul. Well spotted sir. Bit of a long story. To cut it short the passenger side top strut bracket pulled off some while ago when one of my struts seized up. The bracket was always a bit iffy !! Tickover tried to fix another one on for me best they could without welding in a whole section as glass in place, but this has not held either. I was not expecting it to hold really but worth a try. John has very kindly offered to help with a mate of his so i am now on the lookout for a very cheap tailgate ,almost scrap, that I can pick up locally to give us what we need to hopefully fix mine. Tickover dont have one at the moment that I can use so its onto ebay and fb. Martin had a good tailgate last week but this would mean a total respray so could get too expensive when you factor in the cost of the tailgate and respraying it. As mine is in such nice condition I really want to keep mine and try to fix it, but for now my chrome pole works wonders and I am kinda used to using a pole now. Did you not see my pole at The Ace fella ??Paul G wrote:Whats with the steel rod? Have your boot struts gone?

Funny thing too at Santa Pod last year I was parked up beside a few Capris and at least two others had poles supporting their tailgates

At some shows now, I've noticed that they are insisting (due to insurance regulations I think), that bonnet (perhaps boots too), have a secondary means of keeping them open as well as the standard struts.
So all kinds of jazzy/posh poles will start to appear if this will become the norm.

Regarding tailgates. I've got one. Its listed on the for sale section. No glass in it, so use it for whatever you want.
its about 30 miles from Enfield if you fancy it.
Make me an offer - need it gone.
