205/60r13 tyres
Re: 205/60r13 tyres
2 or 3 years ago I sourced about 50 Federal SS-595 tyres, 205/60x13 HR
In my village, Northwold, Norfolk, lives a chap called Ian Hales who races in the 'Legends' series.
They use this tyre as a 'control' and at that time he was importing them by the pallet-load and distributing them amongst the other racers
They have to use ones made for the US market (as that's where the race series originated)
By mistake he got sent a pallet of Euro-spec ones.
Now, I have moved on from the Capris and haven't seen Ian for months, but I do know you can google his racing videos and can find him on facebook.
Maybe someone could get in touch with him and see if a deal can be done.
Can't remember who had all the tyres, but quite a few went to members of this forum; maybe they'll be able to give some feedback?

If I remember correctly, loads of them found their way to CCI.
Andrew.

I got a lot out to people at a good rate (basically I bought about 50 and sold them at a price which enabled me to keep 4 'free' ones for me)
I think we all got a decent deal?
However, I think Ian did indeed pass more to the club when I ran out of options (ie, the club could afford to stockpile them but I couldn't)
My point is that Ian may still be able to supply them if someone was prepared to negotiate a deal?
Re: 205/60r13 tyres
Just been to our local tyre company to get a slow puncture fixed on the Focus, and out of interest I asked what 205 60 13 tyres they could get....None
Checked online and only a few available and some scary prices, and on top of that I would have to pay fitting at probably £40 to £60 the set.
Although currently running 15" wheels I like Pepperpots, but is it worth keeping them or should I sell them on

Another option is the Avon CR28 http://www.avonmotorsport.com/road-lega ... cr28-sport
Any Avon stockist should be able to source them for you.

Re: 205/60r13 tyres
Thanks for the replies guys.
I don't intend getting this size as my 15's are almost new, it was more a case of what was available if I wanted a change in the next few years.
Danny, Falken no longer do them that I know of, and Paul apart from Nankang which I had on my last 2 Capri's, Maxxis are the resonable price for this size add fitting takes it to around £50 a tyre which imo is more than enough to pay for 13"
My Peppers are mint being refurbed in 2018 but have old tyres so only suitable for storage.....
I know you shouldn't scrimp on tyres, but for the mileage and conditions that I drive it in, 15 inch are the same sort of price so I think i'll stick with them

Re: 205/60r13 tyres
I've been having this problem more and more over the years - less and less companies want to make 13" tyres so I'll have to eventually buy 15" rims and get tyres for that instead

Danny, I think this will be an issue for many owners...D366Y wrote:I've been having this problem more and more over the years - less and less companies want to make 13" tyres so I'll have to eventually buy 15" rims and get tyres for that instead
From CCI re. their 15 inch 7 spoke alloys;
"Ideal for 2.8 owners who are tired of not being able to find suitable tyres for their 13 inch version of the same alloys".
They also advertise some 13 inch tyres but for how much longer who knows

Well, Dunlop only recently introduced the Sport Classic in 205/60R13 size, other companies may follow their lead, you never know.andyd wrote:They also advertise some 13 inch tyres but for how much longer who knows

Yes, they are at the top end of the range, above Toyo Proxy and Vredestein Sprint Classic.
At the other end of the Scale, Federal don't appear to make them any more, but now a company called Ovation do.

Is one Dunlop worth three Ovations? They are if they last three times longer, but we can only know that with some experience of both brands. I notice the Dunlop tyres have a much lower decibel level, wet weather grip level rating and also fuel efficiency rating. Maybe none of that makes a difference in the real world, but perhaps it points to the Dunlop tyre being a better quality product?
Andrew.

As you say in the real world if you worried about every detail you wouldn't know what to buy...Imo, set your budget and stick to it
Tyres aren't really a thing you can stockpile for years either, so have to buy when required.
My spare still has an Eagle NCT, so hopefully would be ok to get me home but ideally it needs replacing.

The Dunlops are cheaper at Vintage Tyres:
https://www.vintagetyres.com/shop/tyres ... rt-classic
I don't call £100 a crazy price for a decent tyre.
I had a set last year and they are excellent.
