Rev counter needle removal. Hi all

Post by Pedro 70 »

Hi all, can anyone advise on how to remove the needle from my rev counter shaft. I have looked back at the threads regarding this and they seem to suggest that you ease it off carefully. I have tried this and a bit more, nothing, seems firmly in place. Don’t want to break it so have stopped. Mine is an 86 model and seems to have a brass circlip type thing underneath the needle at the spindle end maybe retaining the needle or maybe nothing to do with it! Have tried pulling at this with long nose pliers, but again no movement and again do not want to damage it. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks

They pull off usually, unless somebody has already been in there with some glue?

Thanks Martin, once you confirmed the needle just pulled off, a little more effort and a twist- off it came. Think I was being a bit too girly with it. Thanks again.
