Yeah it's not very good to be honest, just read it. It's more about the prices of cars. All subjective
Re: Capri feature Classic car weekly
Well that was a waste of time then, thanks for the heads up Mark.

What to pay!!!
In the real world that depends on how greedy the seller is, or how badly they want to sell it
If you really want a specific car and you have the funds then buy it, if not keep looking

This is exactly what I told the writer, I told him that price guides were not worth the paper they're printed on but apparently the editor has a thing about price guides so that's why there is one.
I've not read the article but I doubt that it is a true reflection of the current scene.

Your bit is the big green banner down the side - lots of info about your suggestions when buying a car, the big jargon-y bits in the middle just describe what's around and what different models are available, I get a tiny little bit on the bottom of the next pageCaprigear wrote:This is exactly what I told the writer, I told him that price guides were not worth the paper they're printed on but apparently the editor has a thing about price guides so that's why there is one.

Re: Capri feature Classic car weekly
That's it, price and value can be very different things and very subjective. The real value of any car depending on your commitment to it can be what ever it costs to get it to the standard that you want it to plus what you have paid for the car. Any Capri has at least 32 years of life in it and don't forget they were made at a time where life expectancy of a car wasn't long and the processes of protection weren't great. A lot of cars had stood in compounds for a very long time before they even sold, then you have the problem with the Dock workers and Transport drivers ragging them around - That's before you actually get to drive it. Unless it's been cosseted all of life you can expect to have some serious work to do, much of it exactly the same things. So any car will require much the same despite what you pay. The retail prices of these cars then start to make some sort of sense. The problem is weeding out the crap, cars can look good on the surface but with a keen eye and good knowledge it can be amazing how a Picasso can become primary school art. So my point is pricing and value is guess work to some extent without an expert.

Can somebody post a photo of Martin and Danny's insights?
That will save me having to buy the mag.

Ah I didn't realise they had asked you about things. I usually buy CCW and Practical Classics as they seem a bit more interesting then some other publications but naturally I have found they go a bit flat around this time of year. What do you do when it goes Q? Stick a Ford on the front as sales increase.Caprigear wrote:Well that was a waste of time then, thanks for the heads up Mark.

Yes, I put together an article for them last month. To be fair, my girlfriend bought CCW yesterday when she saw the Capri on the front and generally the article is not bad, it's way better than most other recent Capri features in other publications.ESSEXV6ESSEX wrote:Ah I didn't realise they had asked you about things. I quite often get asked to put my name to articles written in magazines but once I have read the editorials I generally refuse to do it as the articles are a mixture of bullshit and dredged up rubbish going back decades.

That's awfully kind of you, old bean!
I couldn't ask you to do that though. I think I'll have to venture out into the wilds of Wales and buy a copy!
Thanks again.
