So project on hold now as I have to have a think so far in costs £35 headrests and £13 2 meters of grey leather . But I had a go and the headrest were not damaged in the attempt.
That's too bad, it looks like your only option is to recover a set of fishnets. I see from your photos that you've already bought the leather material, so you're already good to go.

Yes but it would be more easy to re dye I think , the ones for £35 on eBay are felt type also the other ones are £200 what is a lot for a mad thought . But I am now looking at Mk1 galaxy headrests so dream not over yet .

Watch this space .

One thing is the headrest are really well made I bet they are not like that now I know back in the late 80s I went on a driving defence course and they said that if we ever ended up in water with the car filling or in a RTA we can use headrest to smash the glass as they have pointed ends . First time since then I have ever looked .

Early 1980's base spec Sierra / Mk3 Escort headrests might be an easier starting point as they were just a 4 sided frame. Theses were fairly hard and uncomfortable things, definitely there for safety rather than any thought of comfort hence the higher spec cars all had standard type headrests and these were dropped altogether after a few years.

Think of them a skeleton version of a fishnet headrest, just add padding, cover in leather or vinyl and a net and theyd probably do the job.

Even something like this might be potentially modifiable, though they would need the frames to be made taller before any other work could be done.

1st thanks for the link but I think and hope I have a set on there way already done , but yes I notice a few head rests what are square , but OMG the head rest I have they are made so well even the foam padding is full on but that massive metal cage is solid . They really made stuff then to last not like we get in cars of today .

I've got 1 original capri S fishnet headrest in black vinyl. I was thinking of selling it as I can't find another to match it and they go for silly money now. I did plan to dye the vinyl dark Gray to match my early 2.8i blue check Recaro's I've got. But I think I might just stick with the original solid headrests which I have loads of spare pairs of. :)

Love this extract from the ad;
"BUYER COLLECTS AND NO TIME WASTERS OR NO BARGAIN HUNTERS , NO OFFERS AS STATED, VERY SERIOUS INQUIRIES."

Who wants to message the seller and say "I'm very serious, but wanted to check you were serious as well as the price suggests you aren't"

:lol:

Even the seller must realise by now that he's flogging a dead horse. Not literally, he's selling headrests, but you know what I mean! :)
