Warm up regulator

Post by Lord Flasheart »

Was contacted by a mate last night, after a successful 1000 mile trip round Scotland in his 2.8, he encountered a cold start misfire, but after 20 seconds or so it would clear & run normally.

Now he is back home, the bugger wont start at all, he's checked & changed various ignition bits without success so he is pretty confident its the warm up regulator.

He's seen them for sale on Tickover but before he takes the plunge, does anybody have one they want to sell or have a spare one that we know works we could try, to ensure it is the problem ?

He is local to me in Worcester but would happily travel or pay post etc.

Cheers folks

Hi,
Sorry to hear of your friend's troubles, he's right to test the warm up regulator before by exchanging it for a known good unit.
A faulty cold start injector could also give the symptoms that you describe, that's something else to try if a replacement WUR doesn't fix the issue.

Before splashing your cash check that the existing unit is not blocked. Undo the larger of the two banjo fittings and there is a mesh gauze under there which can get blocked up. Might just need a clean. Have rag a hand to mop up petrol as you undo the nut.

Didn't you write a guide to testing/repairing the regulator, Peter?

I take it you friend is a member of CCI. A few months ago they recently reprinted and updated this very useful article:
