Thanks Paul, I tried to get at it but kind of awkward to get to! I'm guessing I should be trying to get as much of the rust off before I start spraying it as well?Paul G wrote:Looking good Danny but don't forget to do the inside edge of the rear valance - they rot like anything if just left.

Yep! If you can get some zinc paint or anti rust primer on it too before you wax oyl it.
Re: Laser + GL
Looks good Danny.
I think you made the right decision with clear Waxoyl.
Mine was done with it a couple of weeks ago, and I just bought a 400ml tin so it can be topped up easily if necessary when next on a ramp

Hi Danny,
Great work there!
It was definitely the correct decision to use clear Waxoyl. The finish it gives is much more pleasing than the black stuff.
Andrew.

Re: Laser + GL
Thanks guys, always helps me get through the jobs with a little support!
Nick I used the smooth Hammerite for the petrol tank, I've used the textured/cracked look finish for things I'll see like the radiator infill panel, but for things people won't see I've just gone for smooth black hammerite in a can, much easier to spray on rather than painting it on!
And thanks for the advice Paul, will make sure I prep it properly before I waxoyl the rear valence
I'll have to pick up some more of the clear waxoyl stuff as it really works a treat, just need to do the other car now!!

Little change of coolant the other day... Looks shiny, not bad!
Getting the car set up on the rolling road (finally!) the day before the Ace and sorting a new S/S exhaust (hopefully) soon so will keep this posted

The car looks great Danny, especially the awesome wheels.
Is that some curtains under the car? I hope they are some old ones, not ones you are hoping to put back up before anybody notices they are missing...…..

And unfortunately not, car is being dropped off on Weds 15th to have the manifold done, then once that's sorted I'll get the rest of the exhaust done but will keep this thread updated!
Thanks Andrew, to be honest I didn't want the curtains down as they just got soaking wet once the old coolant started spilling everywhere and I had to keep laying in it! Was my parent's driveway though and they didn't want it all over the driveway so made me use themAndrew 2.8i wrote:The car looks great Danny, especially the awesome wheels.

I'm planning to use these guys http://flowtechexhausts.co.uk/exhausts- ... on/3529981 to make the manifold as they quoted about £450 to make one that is similar in style/design to the sportex manifold, and once I have the manifold sorted I'm planning to go to the Powerflow guys and they can do the rest as they previously quoted £350 for the manifold back so might take a few pay-days before I can get it all done!!
Powerflow said that they can basically just replicate the same exhaust I have currently but just in Stainless so hopefully I can keep the 3" straight through!

I've had Powerflow in the past, either Catback systems or rear box only, and was happy with the quality of the work and the sound I asked for....D366Y wrote:Fingers crossed!! But be warned they can somehow sap power as I found on my Impreza, but that had the rear box only.

Hi Danny,
Sorry, I’m a little late to this party, just a thought. Have you tried HPE??? Ford tuning specialists and they have made some automotive porn when they have made Manifolds fella. Look back at one of the Battlesbridge visits I’ve made in the past. They have an off the shelf SS exhaust manifold for £425.00 and you won’t have to worry about loosing any power....
https://hpemotorsport.co.uk/shop/exhaus ... -manifold/
Have a look Danny, they specialise in making more power from Pinto’s.... Best of luck and hope this ain’t too late to help you make your decision. All the best for now, cheers,
John.
