Paint suggestions
Hi guys,
Looking at respraying my wing mirrors back to the original black as they have a lot of scrapes and dings, wanted to see if anyone had a paint to recommend for it? Black I know, but its not Matt or gloss black so wanted to see if someone could help at all please!
Also, I was in Halfords the other day looking for some of Nick's trademark HFVP for the GL's chocolatey brown/red interior but couldn't seem to find one to match and didn't know if anyone had found or used anything that they would recommend?
Thanks
Danny

Re: Paint suggestions
Hi Danny. Been having a look to see if there is anything similar to HFVP and came across this stuff. Its more of a dye than a paint and is for car interiors. Its 'dark brown but maybe if applied in very light coats you can get it to colour match your interior. But having not used this paibt not sure how easy it is to apply with some control. Anyway here is a link...D366Y wrote:Also, I was in Halfords the other day looking for some of Nick's trademark HFVP for the GL's chocolatey brown/red interior but couldn't seem to find one to match and didn't know if anyone had found or used anything that they would recommend?

Also found this stuff too mate and for 99p might be worth a punt just buying some to test it on a hidden area

Plastikote do a range of paint too. In this link scroll down and they do a Matt Chocolate Finish.

Re: Paint suggestions
Both the cars have black mirrors currently so I just wanted to renew them to the same colour to be honest, they've been a bit scraped and scratched over the years from stones and hedges etc so just wanted to make them look like new againJasonmarie wrote:So your going black not thinking of the same as the Capri ?

Thanks for this, will buy some satin paint then and get to it!Bod9084 wrote:Hi matey the mirrors where painted satin black not gloss

Theres a thought. When did they start painting mirrors body colour ? Im wondering if mine should really be black on a 1983 car.

Re: Paint suggestions
The 2.8s all had body coloured mirrors. I'm not sure if the 4 cylinder cars still had black mirrors at that time.Not_Anumber wrote:Theres a thought. When did they start painting mirrors body colour ? Im wondering if mine should really be black on a 1983 car.

Re: Paint suggestions
I thought that was the case. What made me wonder was on posting a photo of my 2.8i a few months ago someone commented they liked the painted mirrors.

Re: Paint suggestions
The GL has black mirrors and that is an '82, not sure if laser's were different as they made those later down the line

The Laser was the only 4 cylinder model to have body coloured door mirrors when new.
