Fly Fishing by JR Hartley was the best.
Yellow pages is stopping this year I think, our last one was only about 5mm thick. Another bit of history replaced by Google.

When kids had other interests than look at social media
Imagine that today...."Ullo, like have you like got a Hornby 00 like railway R186 signal box"? Or probably just order it from ebay on the ipad.

Re: Who Remembers?
If only supermarket car parks were like this now instead of being jam packed with oversized ugly but fashionable SUV's and not an inch to spare.
These cars had so much character, so many different shapes and sizes.

cars are so big nowadays, and even the smaller stuff is bigger than the older average sized car
Our Tesco has big spaces but most Supermarkets the spaces aren't wide enough to open your doors enough. The Sierra stays well away from any carpark

Re: Who Remembers?
Hi Andy Yes, I know, there just isn't enough room, car parking spaces in most places are the same size, brand new garages are the same size (in fact modern houses seem to have tiny ones), roads are the same size, so why are new cars so oversized and cumbersome? Horrible things!andyd wrote:

Re: Who Remembers?
Another notable thing is the lack of foreign cars- only a handful there, 2 X Nissan 100A Cherrys, Fiat 127, Ren 5, E21 BMW, Volvo est and Scirrocco. No Capris either, although Fords must make up the majority of cars there.
I would have said it was about 1980 (going by the gold V-reg Fiesta) which was the year after I passed my test.
Happy Days.

Happy Days indeed Paul. And I hadn't noted the foreign car aspect, good point.

Re: Who Remembers?
Goodness me, Dave Prowse is 83! Bet kids today would just laugh and swear at a Green Cross Code man. Then throw bricks at him.
Re: Who Remembers?
I think we need the likes of Green Cross Code Man now, as many of todays kids have worse sense than ever before.....
Probably get him on a phone app

Re: Who Remembers?
The bloody phones are half the problem. Kids (and adults) are too busy looking at or listening to the damn things to pay any attention as to what's going on around them.andyd wrote:

I don't use internet or apps on my phone......Just call, text and take the odd picture (usually of the Sierra)
Re: Who Remembers?
Green cross code man, cycling proficiency- that certainly should be brought back.
Seems to me that people now totally lack the common sense to look after their own safety and just expect others to do it for them, same with horse riders on the open roads.

Re: Who Remembers?
I cant believe the way that so many pedestrians now actually push the button at a pedestrian crossing. Unless they are small kids, old and infirm or wheelchair users they should just watch the traffic light sequence and cross the bloody road. What a bunch of wimps.

Re: Who Remembers?
With this 1970's type heatwave we are having I bet some of these still remain in use. Back in the day they would have been everywhere in this nice weather. I still have a couple of the similar type single chairs Nice and bright 70's colours. Stay happy.
