Hi,
If you'd like to keep the original boot struts, but yours are a little feeble, it may be possible to get them re-gassed.
SGS Engineering do it https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gas-str ... ng-service .
When I had mine done a few years ago, it cost around £35.

Andrew.

I'm pretty sure that my friend Alan (deals in Capri parts and spares, etc.) had some new ones for sale. You can always phone or text him - 07757947080 Just mention Paul with the red Laser. He's a nice guy.

Last year they quoted me £48 to re gas or £56 to supply new. On top of the £48 you'd have to send your existing ones off, so at that price differential I'd just buy new I think. That said, with other things being bigger priorities I never got around to actually ordering in the end. I tell myself I'll do it next week every time the tailgate catch crashes into the small of my back (oww!).

I paid around £45 in 2015 and that included my postage of the struts to them.
I sent them off on the Monday afternoon, and they were back on the car Thursday lunchtime :)

And yes those tailgates do hurt when they come down on you :swear:

SGS offer a good service yes, and the other nice thing about re-gassing your existing struts is that you keep struts with the right date code on them - a date code that is broadly in line with the build date of your car. Which is nice if you count rivets.

Unless he sends them to the wrong address and they go missing and refuses to give you a refund of course...
