Another day, another close shave!

Post by Andrew 2.8i »

A close shave for me, anyway.....
The trouble with driving these days is that some people just don't have any regard for others.

Well what can you say???
That really does sum up todays standard of driving  I really despair going out among them :?

Good job you had the dash cam if the worst had happened.

Exactly!
The thing is with the dash cams is that they film in wide angle. This makes what you see on film look further away than it actually was. Boy, it was close! The most shocking thing is that the driver didn't look in his mirror or look behind him the whole time he was reversing. I shudder to think of what could have happened if a mother and pram were in the area.

Did he acknowledge the fact you were there with a :sorry:

If that had been my car he reversed into, he would find his Audi with 4 flat tyres tomorrow morning.

Guess what? Not exactly......
I think he was in too much of a hurry to get away. There wasn't much room between me and the Co-op truck, I didn't want to get in his way, so that's why you see me move forward near the end of the clip. From what I could see, his car was covered in dents, and I don't think he would have worried about adding a few more.....

By the way, what you can't see from the video is that he hits the Fiesta hard enough to shunt it into the wall. Still, that didn't bother him.....

Got a dashcam in the Sierra and the Mrs has one in the Focus, although that often freezes or goes blank :? And it appears the date is now wrong

Hi Paul,
At the moment, no. Only because I was away from home and unable to make a copy. I think I will report the accident to the Police early next week when I'm next in the area.

That would definitely be what they deserve, but the way I understand it, once they locate the driver and get them to exchange insurance details that will be the end of the matter.

Yes, it was a relatively expensive one that records in full HD (1080p). I'd definitely recommend using a dashcam if you don't already.

But hopefully it will affect his insurance and make him think twice in future.....
