3.0 viscous fan bearing

Post by tazla »

Eyup.merry christmas all.
The bearing on my viscous fans well noisy.its grating.for a quick fix can i fix the bearing solid.or am a being stupid.i get how the viscous fan works.but just thought why not make the fan permanently a faster spin like when its warmed up.as it doesnt spin no where near as fast as a lecci one. Be gentle on me haha.cheers mel

Is this the bearing in the actual viscous coupling you are talking about or the one in the timing cover behind the fan belt pulley?

Mine's the opposite, the viscous unit has seized up. Going to try to get the shaft where the end of the bi- metallic spring sits to rotate. I have got them working on other cars by freeing that off.

Probably best to wait until the new coupling comes. Sticking screws in it might make things worse.

Don't want to fuck anything up on that beautiful car!
