Worst Capri

Post by ESSEXV6ESSEX »

It's Monday so thought I'd start another discussion

We all have our favourite Capris, we might not drive them or be able to afford them but to spin this around a bit, what is the worst Capri ever built can include one off conversions by a period tuner or stylist but not someone who has shall we say personalised thier cars I.e put super glue over thier car driven through Halfords and sprayed/colour coded whatever has stayed stuck on when driven out of the other side. You get the picture..

That hideous thing created by Leepu and Bernie on Chop Shop for Laurence Dallaglio must take the biscuit, closely followed by the Tickford.

Some of the pick up and van conversions don't float my boat, especially that 6 wheel thing that was mentioned on the forum a couple of weeks ago.

As you said there are some hideous Halfords Diy bodykits about but I like Capri's pure and as they left the factory although a well done genuine RS kit looks OK to me.

There must be some one offs but as a first general thought the Yanks must be in with a shout for giving the MKII a rather startled look and then deciding to glue a concrete lintel on the front.

Found some pictures of the awful Lawrence Dallaglio monstrosity...

Also found these two after a quick google, neither of which really float my boat!

In terms of actual capris made by Ford, I'd have to say that the American version and the Tickford are the worst in my opinion

At least the US version stayed in the US, unlike what they did to the MG's at the time when we all had to suffer those horrid rubber bumpers.

Those federal-spec bumpers have wrecked many a good looking car.

I quite like the look of the US spec Mk2 if it wasn't for the oversized bumpers.

I doubt my opinion will be shared by many but IMHO the combination of Rostyle wheels and quad headlamps visually connects the US spec Mk2 to both the Mk1 and the Mk3. It looks more of a transitional model than the European Mk2 did for that reason.

280. Same as standard except for worse wheels, horrible paint colour, naff decals and a boring interior.

Anything with a 70's "Custom Car" theme

Never been a fan of the Tickford ones. So tacky. There are plenty of shit ones still floating about as well.
