Request for help

Post by Chicken2nite »

Afternoon all.

My older brother is sadly fighting a losing battle with cancer and we expect him to pass in the next fortnight at best....... All his life he's been a huge Ford man, he has a love for Capri's like i wish i could love a woman. He was a keen member of 2 local Capri Clubs and owned several Capri's. My personal fav being his Blue 2.8 with a huge Cosworth Spoiler on the back in the early 90's. the Capri clubs he was in were one based near Salisbury in the 80's 90's and one in Oxford late 90's and theres a fair chance you may have spoken to him at Classic Ford or Capri events in the past. What i would like to do is have a few Capris and Classic Fords give his hearse an escort ( pardon that pun) on the day of his funeral. We life in Abingdon Oxfordshire and i'll post more details as follows. Myself and my family would be grateful if just one person could help us out but understand its a big ask.

Thanks for reading this and please feel free to spread the word, i've posted on some other forums so fingers crossed.

Kind Regards

David Jones

David

So sorry to hear of your and especially your brother's situation. I expect everyone on here will feel the same. I truly wish I could help you but unfortunately none of my Capri's are roadworthy at the minute but there may be some kind people on the various forums who can.

Wishing you and your family my kindest regards.

Paul.

Couldn't agree with Paul more, I'm sure you'll receive a great response from the rest of the forum too.

I'd be more than happy to help if I can so if you want to put the details on here or message me privately with the info if you would rather I'll see what I can do.

All the best
Danny

As the others say, very sorry to hear that.
Keep us informed. It's a bit of a trek but I would consider it if possible but obviously I can't promise at this stage.

Hi All.

Wayne passed away on Thursday at 9.10am, it was a relief to be honest as it was tough seeing him the last couple of days. he did go out in style tho as he was getting a bed bath from 2 cute nurses at the time.
Funeral details will follow, if i could get one Capri to lead the hearse i'd be delighted

Thanks for all replies to my original post

Kind regards

My condolences to you and all your family. It must be an awful time for you.

I know you had posted your request on Capri power as well. Unfortunately that site is down at present as they are having to change servers but as soon as it is back either you can or I will post your situation on there as I think some members on there may have been looking at ways to help you with your request too.

Hi all,

Details for Wayne's funeral.

Friday November 10th at 12pm, the service will be held at Sutton Courtney Church in Oxfordshire, the Hearse will be going from Didcot. We tracked down the guy who bought his last Capri off him, he's got it running and will be leading the hearse. I'll follow behind in his transit while some old friends and club members have been found and will follow myself. Again if anybody can turn up please do you're more than welcome and please feel free to spread the word on any social forum.

Again, thanks for the support on here.

Kind regards

Hi.

How cool is is you tracked down the present owner of Waynes previous Capri and even better the owner has agreed to lead the hearse. Sounds like you will have a few Fords in attendance. Very fitting indeed. I hope everything goes as well as it can do on what will be a sad day for your family. I bet those old Fords will raise a few smiles though :)

All the best

Nick

Sorry but the distance is going to be a problem I'm afraid. Too much work on to get a full day free :( I'm glad that you have some decent support and hope your brother gets a good send off.
