Hi Paul. We are staying in Hemsby mate. Think the holiday park is called Sunnydown Holiday Park. Lovely caravan. Yep Norfolk is beautiful indeed. So much to see and sandy beaches that go on for miles. Even the Amusements part is great...very 'Retro Entertainment' but I not been allowed to play in there yet...hmmm....maybe if I give my last rolo to Mrs F she might let me.....
Yes it is very beautiful Nick, hope you have/had a great time and managed to get in that retro amusement arcade!

Thanks Paul. Yep we had a great time mate albeit rain on and off the whole weekend but hey thats what the great British holiday is all about

I did actually manage to get swimming in the sea at Winterton to my wifes amusement as I was the only one in the water !! People were walking their dogs along the beach wearing jackets and jumpers and were looking at me like I was a crazy fool  but I promised myself I had to get swimming in the sea no matter what the weather and after the initial 'freezing cold' pain barrier the sea was very pleasant indeed :)

Had a nice meal in a riverside Pub Sat evening looking out over the rainy Broads. Very cosy !

We have been thinking of getting a caravan for some time now and have been looking at places around the country and have fallen in love with Norfolk as its so lovely and so much to see !

Thanks again Paul

All the best

Nick

Blue Peter for me, looking at that dodgy lot from Magpie, I wouldn't want to leave my kids alone with them :?

I knew that she would get a mention somewhere along the way!

Good to see an overwhelming vote for Blue Peter so far. It was always calmer, and you would learn something, Magpie always seemed to be for the rebellious kids, and as Andy says, it doesn't seem to be as memorable.

Indeed they did Peter :)

I was always fascinated by the Sir Nigel Gresley A4's. Terrific things.

You used to see these all the time. But where did they all go. And what replaced them?!

As it said in the BBC link they were replaced by the Motability scheme where people could get a mainstream car and have it adapted for them to drive.

Just think though - they were made by AC at the same time as they were making the Cobra etc. It says in the BBC piece that some could do up to 82 mph;- bet that's more hairy than 182 in a modified Capri!

Interesting stuff in that article. They were everywhere at one time, then all of sudden it was decided to ban them!

Funny seeing this today, we were talking about these in work the other day. One of the boys (he's 36) had never seen one. We got a picture up on google, he thought they were hilarious :D

Isn't it strange to hear that Rob, as back in the day one might go right past you, and you wouldn't even give it a second look.

You're right. Used to be common place years ago & accepted as the norm. Kids would laugh at them now as they look like they came off an old funfair ride. Much better system now with the mobility cars methinks.

This doesn't seem all that long ago, how it flies. But look at the prices, must have been a fortune back then.

Hi Paul,
We had a VHS top loader about 1981/82. Had the remote with lead
I was always the one to set it up for us and grandparents etc (Lost the touch with things like it now though, simpler the better....Getting old and lack of patience)

Never realised how expensive they were back then :o
