1987 Laser Wheel Stud Replacements
Hi
I’ve recently fitted some 7.5” JBW RS4’s on my Laser. The original studs are just a little too short. They accommodate the wheels fine but I’d prefer that little more thread.
Does anyone know the size of factory Laser wheel studs and has anyone fitted new studs to accomodate RS4’s? If so what size did you fit?
Thanks in advance!

I think the 2.8 studs are a little longer. You could try someone like Martin at Caprigear he would probably be able to confirm that and even supply some studs.

Cheers mate!
Re: 1987 Laser Wheel Stud Replacements
2.8i studs aren't any longer. Ford used to stock slightly longer studs but I don't know if they still do.

Thanks! I’ve emailed the usual haunts. There are extended studs out there, I just need to find out what is the standard size on mine.Caprigear wrote:2.8i studs aren't any longer. Ford used to stock slightly longer studs but I don't know if they still do.
Thanks again

Make sure you upload pictures once you've done it! I've got them fitted on mine and love the look, shame I never see many other people fit them!Dave1968 wrote:Hi

What site do you use to upload and resize photos now Photobucket isn’t free? Cheers

I like the tiger seat covers Where are they from, I had been thinking about the sheepskin type that are available from various places. Absolutely typical 70's/80's stuff they are!

Re: 1987 Laser Wheel Stud Replacements
Thanks Andrew for your approval!! Cheers
@pbar: Thanks for your comments, there are a lot of haters out there for the tiger skins!! I’m not sure where the former owner bought them though I suspect from Preston.
You don’t see them anymore.. they’re warm as. Too warm when we have hot weather.
I’ve bought a full set of black and silver strobes with cards yet to be fitted. I’ll still keep the tiger skins and will still use them!
Whereabouts are you in the north west? I’m just outside Blackpool!!

Re: 1987 Laser Wheel Stud Replacements
Thanks!!
I’ve got some 63mm studs from Burton Power in the end, I had a few other things on order. I got 63mm studs which will be cut to fit.
A couple more photos Side on:
Ironically when I left the plot of land where the last two photos were taken a Brooklands approached me and stopped me to say hello! What was the chances of that!?

Re: 1987 Laser Wheel Stud Replacements
I think you need to take the halfshafts out at the back part way to get the new studs in if they're longer btw. Unless anyone has an easier way? I've done my fronts, but the back will get done when I get around to bookign it in for mot + rear wheel bearing replacement.

I didn’t carry out the work. I don’t have the equipment or time to do it. Wish I had!! I’ll find out and update!-JC- wrote:I think you need to take the halfshafts out at the back part way to get the new studs in if they're longer btw. Unless anyone has an easier way?
