Strange things happened today. I started to fit leather seats in the Mrs new car (55 plate Mazda 3) a lovely little first car for her.
What a ballache that was. I was moaning that it was Not as easy as the older fords. Even the mk5 escort was a shite site easier than the modern day stuff.
Anyway that didn't work out (weather and parts cocked me up) so I left it and headed to town. Seen a ratty looking mk3 escort with a young lad driving so I stopped and spoke to him for a bit. My little lad was loving life sitting in the 'old school' car.
Then We play a game where we start with the alphabet and name a car we see on each letter. A-audi
B-bmw
C- Capri he shouts out. I said don't be silly mate. There's no capris out today. As I said that a tidy looking white mk3 rolled past. Told you he said.
Then a white Sierra sapphire cosworth nailed it past me on the way home.
So it was strange for me to start my day by moaning about not seeing or having old fords and I ended the day seeing 3.
Still not fitted her leather seats tho

I KNOW MY CAR IS OLDER THAN ME......WHATS YOUR POINT???
Re: Strange day
Always nice to see a classic car, especially an old when you least expect it
Glad your lad has his finger on the pulse when it comes to spotting older cars

Hi,
It's good to hear that your boy is already getting excited about old school Fords.
Spotting older cars is easy, as they are all different. A lot of modern cars would be really hard to identify if you removed the badges.
Andrew.

Probably rarer than a Capri and nice to see someone isn't frightened to take it out in the rain

I was driving along this morning and passed an Austin Maestro going the other way. Thought to myself, you don't see many of them, then thought that I hadn't seen an Allegro in even longer. So what do I pass a mile up the road, a bright orange Allegro!

Love the smell of old engines wafting by! Another point in favour of QS over a lot of standard cars shows. You can hear and smell the cars running as well as see them.

Re: Strange day
Not just the smell of the engines, I had a chat with a bloke at a small local car show a few weeks ago and we both spoke about the smell of inside the cars of that period. The owner of the Capri on show was interested to know why we wer sticking our heads in and sniffing the inside of his car ha.
I mentions this to the owner of the escort yesterday and he laughed and agreed. The smell of the interior took me right back to being 4/5 years old and my old man taking me to school in the Capri which he tied my car seat in with rope.
Memories......
