A bit more useless information for you
Very clever. I have seen in her history she was first registered down there so you are spot on. I bought the car from Melton Mowbray though so she's been around a fair bit.

My dad worked in Highbridge near Burnham on Sea (I lived there for a year when I was a kid) most of his cars were YA - YD. His last was a Merc 300SE which was B600VYD. This was exported to Hong Kong after he died.

My first Capri, which dad got from his company, was OFB which is a nearby Bristol registration. (Bryan Brothers of Bristol)

I grew up in Midsomer Norton, and would have thought Bristol and Bath would have been the same reg as Taunton....Strange :?

Bristol had loads of its own identifiers ;- AE EU FB HU HW HY OU TC WS

Nowadays anything registered west of Swindon seems to start with W.

Upgraded the lights in my Angel Eye rings to LED's finally, no more dull yellow glow now i have a nice bright bluish glow.

They look way brighter in the pic than they do in real life because my phones camera aperture is open way too far but it isnt far off.

Please excuse the Southampton brand seagull poop.

I cant give you a link to these exact lights as i bought them used off ebay, you can however buy a newer model of the same thing but they are not cheap!
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-BMW ... SwhQhY7qPP

Mine are the ones made by "Depo" so they are basically the same as the ones in the link. Like i said though, i bought mine for £50 used off ebay, if i had to pay new prices i wouldn't have been able to afford them.

Both sets of lights function exactly the same as the original Ford ones, the only difference being the sidelights have been totally replaced by the angel eye rings but they still work off the same switch and everything.
Anyone with a bit of knowledge of electrics shouldn't have much trouble wiring these up, and if you do it properly you can plug your old Ford units back in no problem.

I made a tutorial on how to fit these if you decide to get some. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=50788&p=345259&hil ... on#p345259

I know the angel eye rings aren't to everyone's taste, but the benefits of having the upgraded BMW projector lenses are huge in themselves! So much brighter than the normal Ford units.

But very nice to see a 2.0S with the right stripes and seats . You have worked hard to get such a fine car .

So i recently managed to source a MK2 grille. I wasn't expecting to be able to find one as i know how rare they are but asked on the off-chance and somehow the car gods smiled on me and i ended up with this:

Image

Its in really good condition, all the mounting lugs are present and unmolested and all the honeycomb structure is in perfect condition, it was however very very dusty and the FORD letters need touching up and the whole thing could do with a lick of paint so i started by washing the whole thing in the shower.

Very dusty, looks like its been collecting dust for quite some time:

All cleaned up:

Close up of the faded FORD lettering:

Nothing my years of making scale models and some enamel paint cant handle:

I realize i need some pipe cleaners to clean in between all the little holes a lot better than i already have so that will be something i do later.

Thats all for now on the grille, but i did manage to fix a long standing niggle ive had with my under dash panels since owning the car thanks to Capri Gear:

After:

My OCD can now rest lol. It doesn't work, never has as the modern radio thats fitted has this function built in, but its better than having a gaping hole on show.

Hi,
If you really did have OCD, you'd have made sure that the hazard switch was straight!

I know! I've tried getting it straight but then it just twists itself back again. It's got a mind of its own.
