An observation on the door handle/lock situation on the signal orange car. If you save the photo of the nearside to your PC you can zoom right in and see that it is, in fact, the later door handle as it does not have an inset lock. It looks to me as if the lock has been removed from the door, perhaps for security reasons?

Andrew

Edit: I seem to remember that it was all the rage in the early 90's to take the door locks off the doors and fill in the holes that were left. That might have been the case here, or it might be a later handle on an early door as suggested. We just don't know for sure, although it's fair to say that this car has got a story to tell. As stated earlier, if someone is spending big money, they should expect the car to be right.
Re; Orange 3.0S
Car now £13993, and the sale ad has been edited to read;
PLEASE NOTE THERE IS SOME COMMENTS THAT HAVE BEEN MADE A CAPRI FORUM THAT THIS IS NOT A GENUINE 3.0S .
WE PURCHASED FROM A VERY GOOD SOURCE AS A GENUINE 3.0S AND INDEED IT LOOKS NO DIFFERENT TO OTHERS WE HAVE HAD IN THE PAST AND INDEED MY OWN I OWNED IN THE 80s HOWEVER WE HAVE REDUCED THE VEHICLE AND WE ARE SELLING IT AS A CAPRI 3.0 IT WILL BE UP TO ANY PROSPECTIVE PURCHASERS TO MAKE THERE OWN MIND UP AS TO WHETHER IT IS A ORIGINAL 3.0 S OR A CAPRI THAT HAS BEEN MADE TO LOOK /DRIVE AND FEEL LIKE ONE .
THE VEHICLE IS HPI CLEAR AND THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ANY RESHELL THAT WE CAN SEE ALL NUMBERS MATCH ....
EXPERIAN AND HPI BOTH HAVE IT AS 3.0S AND THE V5 CLEARLY STATES 3.0S .
AT THIS STAGE WE SUGGEST ANY POTENTIAL INTERSTED PARTIES MAKE THERE OWN DECISIONS UPON VIEWING ..
WE MUST BE CLEAR IN OUR OPINION IT IS THE REAL THING AND CLEARLY THAT OPINION WAS SHARED BY PREVIOUS OWNERS AS DETAILED IN THE HISTORY FILE .
HOWEVER WE ARE SELLING AS A 3.0 CAPRI 1980 BUYERS TO MAKE THERE OWN MIND UP ON WHETHER A GENUINE 3.0S OR A 3.0 S RECREATION

I'd love to think I could get my 3.0S up to that standard. It's white too but will be getting a vinyl roof. It's going to be the biggest resto project I've ever done as I intend to strip it completely and get it soda blasted. Over the last 18 months I've been getting together all the secondhand OE panels I will need and all have got to be unpicked, blasted and repaired ready for fitting.

Better get the Laser tart up finished and get it in the garage.

I saw that the orange 3.0 has been reduced in price by £1000. Not quite enough IMHO.

Hi Paul,
I have just edited my previous post to read, Re; Orange 3.0 S, not to cause any confusion with the white car :)

It can't be genuine at £13993 can it :headscratch: I would have thought dealer price in that condition, at least £17K for a 3.0S :?

Hope to see some pictures of your Capri's at some point :)

Hi Andy

You are right, I haven't posted any pics yet. I will put up a before and after of the Laser when it's done. I'm not doing what I would call a restoration, merely a fix what's wrong and tidy it up for the road on it, so it won't look like Nick's! It'll be tidy though, for a 186000 miler.

With the S, I intend to put a full build thread on both forums so you can all take the p!ss and tell me I'm doing it wrong!

H&H Auction, March 29th 2017.
Estimate; £20000 - 25000, Sold for; £18281.25 plus fees (20%).

Probably has a minimum £22K reserve to cover his costs......
5 speed box (Personally I would prefer the 4 speed still in it).

It might make £25 to £30K, depends if anyone knows that he paid just over £18200 plus fees for it 2 months ago.....
I would find it hard to pay over £23K for it now I know.
