Looks like it may have broken down. I hope the Police don't tow it away and scrap it.

Is that the 'Rat Look' or has it burnt out....

By the way it's parked, it certainly looks like it has broken down :?

Pretty sure it's rat look - it looked intact. Hope it's just broken down not stolen and dumped (this is Croydon, after all), it's on a bypass so you can't park there, but it's up on the kerb at least.

Im hoping thats just "rat look", if it was burnt out the roof would be all scorched (since fire rises etc) and would look like the side does, if not worse.

I'll echo the whole "hope its broken down" thing too, but if it is stolen though (and providing that is how its supposed to look), at least its easily found and still intact and not wrapped around a tree in a ditch somewhere.

I can dig the whole "rat look" thing and respect it, like the Mad Max "look", but something is wrong here if you cant tell the difference between that or if its been burnt out lol.

Even looking at the pic with the Mrs' glasses on  a majority of the roof looks pretty much like the side to me :?
The tailgate looks different though......I suspect my colour blindness could be to blame

Hi Andy,
My comment was more an observation on poorly conceived and executed rat designs (I'm not saying this car falls into that category though),
You needn't upgrade Mrs andyd's glasses for a stronger pair just yet.... :)

The glass looks intact, especially the rear window...if it was burnt out all that would have melted i think? (when i had a MK4 Escort stolen they found it burnt out and all the glass had melted).

Say what you want about the bodywork, at least the owner has good taste in rims ;)

Wonder if his wobble? lol

I can barely tell what wheels they are. It isn't the clearest photo I've ever seen, perhaps -JC- is still using a Nokia 3310 or similar!

 Hey those old Nokias will outlast time itself!

The rims appear to be of the Minilight/Superlight variety.

Looking at the tailgate and roof colour my guess is it is (or was) Sirius Red. With the twin exhausts and the fact that sirius red was only available in 1979/80 I'd say it is a 3litre Ghia or maybe an S.

I do hope the owner gets it back and gets on with restoring it to that gorgeous colour.

Couldn't wait for the new 3310, so I have just bought a Mobile for £19.99.....
Got to get used to texting with the buttons again, especially now my eyesight isn't brilliant, (so I have no chance of seeing what wheels this Capri has fitted)

Got fed up with more technical phones going wrong, and at the end of the day it makes calls and sends texts :applaud:

Heh, not a 3310, I was just quite a way back so it's cropped from the wider image (effectively the same as digital zoom). Taking one closer would have involved parking in just as dodgy a place as he was, or using my phone while driving!

I was quite tempted to walk back that way for a closer look in my lunch hour, but it's probably a 20-25 minute walk each way.

Edit: wheels are minilights or similar btw!

We must all attend Church on Sunday and pray for the safe return and repair of the Crippled Croydon Capri.
