Amazing but mildly criminal! That could be me having fun in a quality classic rather than sat in his garage being a trailer queen :(

Each to their own I guess...

It should be driven more than it is, but I can also understand him not wanting to risk damaging it...... :?

Hi,
Stunning condition car!
According to the MOT history, it's travelled a total of 2 miles from April 2009 to the current date....
Everyone has their own idea of what ownership of a classic car is about, and this chap feels that he wants an absolutely immaculate car. Bear in mind that he's also got the Cortina 1600E to drive on a daily basis, so that will help to scratch that itch, so to speak.

I understand not wanting to risk it and he is right to say there are plenty of morons on the road, but you have to draw the line somewhere?? I'm sure all those insanely expensive Ferraris/Lambos/Astons etc etc from years gone by get driven more than that... At the end of the day the cost of replacing the front bumper on a Lamborghini is more expensive than what he paid for the car when new!

I agree Andrew that everyone wants to keep an immaculate car, but look at the other forum users.. Andrew, Nick, Sheff, John and countless others who's names I have forgotten have immaculate cars but still get driven around

It's funny to see that he cherishes the 1600E with 117k more than the Capri, that's proof enough for me, the enjoyment is in the driving, there's no memories to be made when it's left in the garage .. :)

Hi,
It's useful to use photos of original engine bays like this for reference.
Also, I note that the dashboard switches are in the correct order! :D

I understand the desire to not want to risk damaging it, as i have a massive anxiety attack everytime i leave my car in a car park for fear of some scumbag dinging it (which has already happened since i last painted her, took a huge chip out of my passenger door, took it down to the primer underneath and scratched the paint on my mirror! Wish i caught who did it but i digress.), but its still a shame to see cars like this not being used for what they were designed and built for. Kinda damned if you do and damned if you dont.

GIVE ME THE KEYS!!!!

Fit some new tyres, just in case and Blast Off!!! I'll have it showing 4000 by the end of this Month!!!

This being said, of course I can totally appreciate this is how he wants it, but I want a 'Heads Up' when he comes to sell it.... :xd: :xd: :xd:

Again ,this being said, I bet Des's Cappa when finished will be in a better condition to just drive with no issues and it will be just as good if not better!!! Just my own humble opinion..... Great find Nick! Cheers,

John...

I think you could be correct there. If the owner was to sell it, it would be at a large premium over a 2.8 that's been used. Therefore, the next owner is unlikely to devalue it by adding many miles. Unless John buys it, that is!

That's a great line to sum up the driving versus non-driving argument Rob.
