These were in very short supply, so it's fantastic that the club can now supply them. Where would we be without parts such as this being remade! Thanks for the info Jack.

Hi, did you fit the new CCI trim? I got mine and the back is just flat with no fixing points. How on earth would that work!

The Capri Club states - Requires alternate fixings to original.

Yet it describes it as an exact copy. So surely that contradicts itself!

Still, it's great that these parts are being remade, full credit to them for that. Perhaps they can advise how it should be fixed on.

Yeah I saw that, so that in most people’s mind just means not the exact clips that ford used, not no fixing points.
The only viable alternative is to drill lots of holes, and so after spending all that money on it, that original look is gone and it will just look naff.

It states; Does not include fittings (we recommend good quality sticky backed velcro to enable easy removal)

I didn’t buy it from eBay, it was direct from the club, so wasn’t aware of that text..It’s a pretty hefty piece to just try and use Velcro so I’d be interested to know other people’s experience..

How about fixing it with strong magnetic thin blocks. Easy to remove then too, and you wouldn't have to do anything to the car, no sticky velcro pads or anything like that.

Might have been better if CCI had sourced the velcro, cut the required amount and charged a little extra

Have a search around for 3M Hook & Loop, its works like Velcro but is much tougher.

https://www.hookandloop-direct.co.uk/3m-dual-lock

You can buy it in various rolls / sizes of the interlocking teeth if you see what I mean. I have used this to mount a cb on the dash of our Jeep Wrangler in some pretty serious off roading for 12 years, its never budged. Easy to remove the cb if needed, no holes need drilling etc.

More than capable of holding that rear panel in place IMHO ;)

Nice display :)

I notice that you used them on the replacement/experimental ballast resistor you made :)

Yes, they`re really useful, it`s only limited by your imagination. I even have a couple of spanners with magnets on which stick to the inner wing for emergencies (or of course, in my view, their mere existence stops emergencies happening. ;) ;)

@ lord flashheart, I bought the book & loop and fitted the trim cover.
Absolutely fantastic, thank you!! Recommend to anyone looking to buy the replacement from Capri club, it’s so authentic you don’t notice the difference.

My original almost disintegrated it was a mess!
Cheers

Glad you got it all sorted, that 3M hook & loop is bloody good stuff, I have found many uses for it around the house & cars where a no drill option is preferred, its also good for holding number plates on cars that don't have pre drilled holes etc.

A photo of your new trim cover in position would be good to see for other folks ;)
