3.0 capri electric fuel pump

can you fit a electric fuel pump on a 3.0 capri as i dont use mine very much and it is hard to start after around 5 days due to the petrol eveporating in the carb and i was only going to use it for starting up purposes to make it easier to start and then turn it off, and would the mechanical pump on the engine pull the fuel through the pump when the electric ones turned off and as anyone tried and tested this before .

You could, you would also need to fit a pressure regulator too.
