Cumbria RSOC Day - Photos

Post by mjcapri »

A few photographs I took last Sunday at Heaves Hotel. It was a good day, not many Capris but plenty of other nice Fords. They're camera phone pics but quality is OK. Enjoy!

Hi,
Great pics, thanks for uploading.
The standard of cars looks very high here, must have been a great day out.
I love the Escort RS1600i, Escort S1 RS turbo, Sierra RS500 and the RS200...Wow!

Andrew.

Yes the standard of cars was very good. It was a little difficult to get decent photographs as there were a lot of people milling around so really this is a limited selection.

The RS500 was stunning as was the RS200. The other stand out cars for me were the RS3100 and the RS1800 which were both very nice!

Does anyone know what an RS200 sells for these days? If we can find one for sale, can we all club together to buy it? Please!

They're just Sierras with mid mounted Cossie engines. Apparently the clutches are really harsh. On or off. You have to give it the beans just to pull away.

They're not attractive but their performance and scarcity make them desirable to the little boy in all of us. They are definitely an example of form following function.

Hi,

Neither of the above opinions are enough to diminish my desire for said car! :)

There's been one for sale for 125K recently. A local Ford dealer sold his (not exactly mint) example for circa 60K. It was red too, quite rare.

I don't think they are ugly actually, a bit different but the proportions are spot on for me.
They're just Sierras with mid mounted Cossie engines.

Other than the rear light lenses, windscreen and door skins (which are cut down), can you name any other parts they share with (any) Sierra? (There's probably some switches and stuff too). :?:

They're identical; except for the headlamps. Actually the side windows were Sierra items. Read about it on the best fact based site on the internet. Also the body was designed by Ghia and made by no other than Reliant lol.

Did the Sierra have magnesium alloys as standard?

Yes sorry for my sweeping statements. They were made from some Sierra parts but otherwise bespoke. You could get a kit for a Sierra at one time to make it look like an RS 200. Although it was :turd:

No Dan that wasn't my XR4i behind the RS500 I went in the Focus. The black '4i in the photo was actually a Turbo Technics car, it was very nice.

Mine isn't on the road although the electrics are all done and its running reasonably well. I'm doing a bit of bodywork at the minute and I have a replacement gearbox coming this week. Hopefully I'll get all 4 calipers (yes it has discs all round!) rebuilt over the next couple of weeks and sort out a vibration from underneath which appears to be a knackered centre bearing. If its all ready, and hasn't been stolen, it will be at CRaP. Should use less petrol than the Focus too hopefully!
