Diff help please

Post by S14michael »

Hello, im new to this forum but i dont own a capri. I own a cortina that has a capri diff, its an open type and thats all i know.

I want to put in lsd internals but i really dont know what would fit or not. I keep seeing the name Atlas ? is that a common name or is that the factory make ? Also i also keep seeing diff's that say they fit escort or capri, are they the same ?

I really just need some advice as i have no clue right now.

Thanks if any can help me.

Mike.

There are three different types of axle avaialable on a Cortina and the English is the least common.

Bloody hell. My 2.3 had that axle. Looks like an atlass but isn't.

I'm wondering if the best way is to adapt a 2.8i special axle to fit. I think from memory them axles weren't up to much.

Yes that is a Koln, Atlas axles never have the bushes on the pigs head for starters. Can you measure the distance between the two brake backplates (in inches)?

Wilky do you mean measure the whole alxe ?

Ive been looking at seirra's diff's and they look like alot of work, if the worst come to it i can weld it solid but id prefer a lsd.

Yes measure from the inside of the brake backplate to the I inside of the other one across the width of the axle. From the measurement I'll tell you what Atlas options you have

What's involved in Volvo Axle swap? Any complications with prop, handbrake/brakes?
