Great to see your work is coming along well, love seeing a big old engine going in a capri! your fabrication in the engine bay is awesome, love the mount for the swirl pot and good idea with the windscreen wash bottle. looks alot tidier!
well done mate

Re: new project(by rousecapri) this time its for myself
looking really good mate. iv managed to get a black laser now and have got that in bits at the moment. started at the back and am just waiting for the diff bearings ect then all that will be going back together. got to turn it round and attack the front then. i need to buy a new welder but im on a mega budget at the moment and i cant afford to spend any unneccessary pennies so im on the blag for a welder from work.
your metal work is really neat and what you have done is very clever with the inner wings.
im looking forward to getting mine on the road, was going to upload some pictures in the projects section but progress is slow and dosent sound half as impressive as your 3.1.
keep up the top work

i know some of the metal work is not finished eg needs welds grinding down etc.......
i just wanted to see what it was going to look like painted and if i liked the colour

Hmmmm against a nicley polished engine - flat mat black will be great, I wonder if satin would be better though to show off all the fabrication ......

Matt black wouldn't be my choice, looks a bit like its just had a coat of underseal. With all the work you're doing something with more of a finish would be better imho. But, its not mine

For some strange reason I just wanted a game of noughts and crosses.
Seriously though, you can do better than Mat paint in the engine bay, it'll show up any oil or water marks and won't be easy to keep clean.
Satin paint would be easier to clean but, I prefer the same colour as the outer top coat.

Re: new project(by rousecapri) this time its for myself
i only brushed it on as i wanted to see if i liked it........... (£6 for a spray can or £2.50 for a small tin) the small tin won lol
might try satin black next.....
all the paint was going to be removed again as the metal work is not finished,i am just trying to find out what paint i will use .........still not sure....there will be a lot of polished aluminium and a bit of chrome on the engine...........might still do it the same as the body...........i wish i could make up my mind...............

Give us a clue as to top coat colour, as satin may compliment it.rousecapri wrote:i only brushed it on as i wanted to see if i liked it........... (£6 for a spray can or £2.50 for a small tin) the small tin won lol

Re: new project(by rousecapri) this time its for myself
I used black hammerite smooth finish in my engine bay and it came up brill bit pricey but it can have what ever spilt on it and just have to wipe it off.
Re: new project(by rousecapri) this time its for myself
looks loke its gonna be an awsome motor mate! belting fabrication skills. just very slightly concerned that the steering reservoir mod might interfere with the movement of the passenger wheel?but im sure youve allowed for that, just tell me to piss off for been pesemistic but a cracking job well done so far!

Re: new project(by rousecapri) this time its for myself
get yourself down your local for some pub gas,i very rarely do any welding at home so a bottle of co2 for free comes in handy for the odd bit of mig welding.
