Things are looking up me as I don't seem to get the ads for hair transplants anymore, but instead I get adverts for the usual lonely Asian ladies and also for dental implants. Yep that Savage was incredible.
My Dad and I were chatting to one of the Corsair owners as my Grandad had one back in the late 60's and it was the first car my Dad drove. As if an estate version wasn't rare enough, it was a GT too
As you say, the Mk1 3.0 GT Capri was so cool, as was the RS2000. Hats off to the long term owners for taking such good care of them.

Thanks for uploading the additional photos Nige. The standard of cars looks to be really high, and that's an indication of a great show. I like the mark 1 Escort estate, it's good to see regular models of cars being maintained to a high standard as those tend to be much more scarce than the more glamourous/sporty versions of those cars.

To me, regular models are just as interesting. They may have once been commonplace but now can often be rarer than the more desirable/top of the range version. Base or lower spec models were often used and abused and then scrapped as they weren't as desirable.
I chatted with the owner of that Escort. He's a nice chap and I think he's had it from new. It's a 1300 de luxe and covered appropriately 122k and still on its original engine and gearbox. It was their family car back in the 70's. His son is getting married this year is it's being used as the wedding car. The owner explained that eventually it will pass to his son. Nice story.

Sunday was also the first outing for my new home made dash top cover/mat. Thanks again to Andy's wife for sewing on the biased binding????? for me (not really up on sewing tech speak).
I bought some grey vinyl and dark grey binding from a local independent fabric shop. Used my old dash as a template and cut the vinyl to size. Andy's wife did a great job finishing it off with the binding.
Really pleased with the result and it cost under £8 plus a bottle of red for Andy's wife!
Recently, I purchased some dark grey leather dye and clear sealer so that I could restore the original steering wheel near to it's former glory. A couple of coats of each and the wheel is looking good.

Brilliant job on the dash mat, thought it was a cool dash one until I read the post. I've had the steering wheel dye for a year, just havnt got around to it. Didn't realise that steering wheels needed feeding Jason; mine must be starving
I used the dye as mine had faded where the right hand naturally grasps.
