Classic Ford - Santa Pod 2018

Post by Fordoholic Nick »

Hi all,

Well not really enough words to descibe how brilliant this show is so I think you get the gist !!

Yep I had a really great day out at Santa Pod and the weather was superb...too superb in fact as it was bleedin baking hot and yep even with two coats of factor 50 I still got sunburnt :P

I got there at 0645 so was one of the first to park up in my section and had a bit of breakfast before the crowds came in. Had a great drive up there...unlike the drive back as the M1 was misbehaving terrible but the Capri performed great in the very hot weather/traffic jam !!! A detour to see John on the way home made up for it. I dropped off some door seals I picked up for him at the show. Bought some door seals for myself too and a tailgate one as well after Steve ( stish ) had recommended them to me at Deal last Sat. Cheers Steve. Cant wait to fit them now. John had his door seals fitted by the time I got home from his place

Anyway onto the show and some pics starting off if you don't mind with yours truly. Classic Ford have changed the Individual Display section now and they group same cars together so as you see after being first to park up I was joined by more Capris which was great...

Warning you may want to get a cup of tea as there are quite a few pics to follow...apologies in advance

I really noticed the crystal clear headlights yesterday as I stepped back and took these pics. Well pleased with them :)

Image20180603_082954 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

Had a great chat with this guy. Absolutely stunning 3.0 Ghia. He just had a brand new vinyl roof done and it was absolutely pristine ! He was having trouble fitting the chrome trim though this week so did not fit these in time. Lovely chap and STUNNING Capri

Image20180603_082943 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

Then the Capris started parking up beside us... 2.0S

Image20180603_082936 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

Next up... Chaps this did not have the jps badge on the side or the matching decal bottom strip along where the side mouldings are on later capris but presuming this is an original jps ?

Really nice 2.0 Laser. Had a good chat with the owner. It was only just resprayed three weeks ago and was obviously immaculate ! He beat me to opening his bonnet

The owner of this has many Capris in their family they have restored and indeed also had a stunning Red one similar to this parked up just beside that I somehow did not get a pic of  They have always has Capris in their family and are proper Capri nuts ! Both this and the Red one were stunners !!

Image20180603_083100 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

But check out the rear spoiler and badge...yep turbo technics !
Image20180603_083027 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

Anyway sorry to bore you with all these but I was really chuffed with being parked up to such a great bunch of Capris I just wanted to share. I did not expect the individual display to be so organised as they grouped us all together. I reckon people thought we were all part of the same club the way we were all lined up. It was great !!!!

Meanwhile there was 'another' show going on too... Here's some photos starting with the Capris of course

This lovely Perana was for sale in a new display area called "Cars For Sale" :)
Image20180603_083848 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

They organise the great Capri events we get to enjoy...The Ace, Brooklands and others. Anyway enough said...let the pictures of his beautiful Capri do the talking...

Hi Nick,
Funny, I had just made a cup of tea

Glad you had a good day, and looking at the pics there were many great Fords there inc yours :D

Thanks for the XROC pics too
I saw on FB they had a good turnout, and yes Kevs car (Blue Beast) does look great, although a little too modified for my liking.

Hi Nick,
How come you didn't take many photos this year?
Seriously though, thanks for sharing so many amazing photos. As you wrote, it does look like a brilliant show full of gorgeous classics. Car of the show is the lacquer red Capri that looks superb with those new 15" wheels! I recognise a few other Capris from the CCI Nationals, A808BRX and RGX468R were both at the recent Weston show too.

All the best,
Andrew.

Thank you fella. Very nice of you to say mate. The 15's really do give B112 such a better stance/look/feel so I really am over the moon with them, and in a couple of weeks when B112 is lowered a tad it will hopefully be the icing on the cake. Cant wait for "lowering Thursday" 21/6/18 :)
And the quads really looked cool yesterday whatever way the light was reflecting in them...they were 'poppin' mate !! :D

Andrew this really is a cracking show. It would be great if you could manage to make the journey over to it as you would really love it mate with such a large number of sublime classic fords, not forgetting the 1/4 mile action...oh and the brilliant jumble too !!! I bought a set of new door seals from East Kent Trims and a new tailgate one too. Steve showed me his at Deal last weekend and they look very good quality and importantly the right angle corner is one piece so the 'join' can be made along the bottom edge. John pointed this pot to me when he asked me a set too. He fitted his after I dropped them off to him on the way home and said they are very good so that's two great recommendations for these, Steve and John !

Thanks again Andrew. Glad you enjoyed the "few" pictures

All the best fella,

Hey Jason,

Thanks very much mate. Yep it was a stunning turnout indeed ! Some seriously amazing fords here fella and only a 90min drive for me so not far at all. The weather really came good but tbh it usally does, In about 8 visits to this show its only rained the once...the year that Andy came to Classic Ford for the first time...

I really love the XR Fiesta's Jason. There were some stunning ones on the XROC Stand but no surprise there. The XR Sierra's really look good too. Always liked these. Was gonna get a Sierra when I was younger. Love the MK2 Escorts too. That Yellow RS2000 was mind boggling beautiful.

Jason I am Fordoholic Nick  so I could go on and on and on and on and on and on and on with all the cars I fell in love with at Santa Pod...but my heart is already taken by B112 and would have it no other way  :D

Thanks again Jason, I am really looking forward to meeting you at Tickover on 21st. How weird is it saying this. Most people have 'first dates' in a pub

All the best Jason

Fantastic pictures Nick. Those 15's & clear headlights make an already gleaming car all the better. That orange mk2 you parked by looked a great car too. I've seen that blue Cortina mk3 2000E before too it's an amazing car. I'll have to make this one, it looks a brilliant show, lots of events I want to see clash this year ( was at Castle Combe JDM show with my boys this weekend).
Thanks for uploading these, didn't have a cuppa ready, so I'll brew one & look again :D

Thanks very much Rob. Glad you liked the pics. I had to reign myself in as so many dam fine fords were there. Yep Rob if you aint been before you really should try to get along to this mate...you wont be disappointed :)

There us a very good jumble area too so lits if routing through boxes. Seen a 'as new' grey dash there first thing in the morning and it was still there when i was leaving. God knows how much he was asking for it

The owner of the Orange 3.0 beside me was a really nice chap. We had a great chat. He only just had the vinyl roof replaced the week before. It was absolutely immaculate.

Anyway thanks again Rob. Glad you enjoyed the pics

All the best

Still, glad you had a great day. B112 looking great as always.
Cheers Dave. This show still rocks mate. I just love it :D

Yep I can only imagine all the fords you must have owned mate. Have you still got the P100 Dave ?

Thanks for your kind words on B112. Much appreciated. I did see some very tasty webers for sale....but instead I settled for some new door/tailgate seals :)

Not long till 'lowering thurs' Dave

Thanks again for your nice comments.

All the best mate

Yes only a few weeks now and your be all set up .
Hi Jason.

I dont think I can persuade my wife to come with me to drop me back home then again its a bit of a longer drive  Then again I am hoping mine will be done in a few hours. There is a nice lake/reservoir nearby by the looks of it so think i will bring a mini pinic

Jason thanks very much for your very kind offer of CCI Mags. I have already done the same...gave alot of them away. Think i would be in trouble with the 'boss' if I returned home with more

Yep getting excited now Jason. Not long to wait for the 'drop' now and be great to hopefully finally meet you and your wife too as she will be with you as well.

Cheers fella

It's all good Nick - I'm having a self imposed sabatical. I can't decide whether I want an almost new RHD Mustang or an earlier Fox Body or SN95/Cobra in LHD flavour. I am so undecided I've given myself a good 1-2 years to make the decision whilst I finish the odds n sods off at SmokeEm Towers for Wifey. Knowing me like I do, I'll probably end up with both lol.
