Weston-Super-Mare Show 2018

Post by Andrew 2.8i »

Hello everybody,
As mentioned elsewhere, I trekked down to Weston on Easter Sunday for their classic car show on the seafront. Although it wasn't a Ford show, there was a fine turnout of cars that braved the cold, but thankfully dry, day.

Firstly, a photo of each of the Capris. By my reckoning, 24 cars turned up on the day, not bad for a local show.

QS regulars Chris, Mark and Phil own these cars.

This stunner is owned by Julius who also sometimes goes to QS.

This LS was for sale for £3200.

The driver of this one was wearing a t-shirt with "The Mazda MX5 is not a classic" printed on. Needless to say, the large gathering of MX5 drivers there were not amused! :D Nice one!

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the pics :D
Brilliant selection of Fords and nice turnout of other classics :applaud:

I have seen that Savage somewhere on my travels, and I recognise several others too.

Looks like a good event and I hope to get there next year.

 Andy

Hi Andy,
Yes, it was a good show with a decent turn out of cars. It was anticipated that more Capris would be there, but I suppose over 20 cars is pretty good these days.

Looked a great show (& venue), good selection of Capris, yours is looking well turned out as usual, bet it was a nice drive. Big fan of that white MK2 3.0S too, looks great with those aftermarket alloys. As does that red 240Z, the arches enhance the cars shape IMO. That red Lincoln Continental was for sale last year, what an eyeful. A load of great cars on show, must have taken a while to upload. Great pictures & a good turnout, cheers for posting.

Hi Andrew,

What great pictures fella, and what a brilliant turnout of Capri's...24 you say...wow ! Always nice to see some Laser's mate. That 1.6 (B715) looks an absolute stunner...glad the bonnet was down as I am sure I would have been jealous as f#ck of what surely lies beneath !! :)

Love the Green MkII (TNT). Really done a nice job of that. Not too over the top as some body kits can be imo. I love it !! Is this the one people were talking about that is for sale ?

As said all the Capri's look superb mate !

I reallllllly do like that RS2000 (KVG) mate. Stunning !!!! Perfect colour for it too. Looks very original.
That Cortina 3.0 (SFJ) looks bleedin mint !!!! But the driver could not have picked a muddier bit of grass to park on poor sod  His tyres are covered in mud...bet he cleaned them before setting of for home....

So what a fabulous array of Fords mate !

Away from Fords...which I find a difficult transition to make  I have to say I really do like that Dolomite (JCH). Lovely motor and with the four doors a very practical car too but looking at this one methinks its not used for 'practical' trips to the supermarket !!!

Anyway Andrew thanks for posting up such great photos mate. You never let us down :)

Oh yeah....before I go just want to mention one more car....YOURS !!!! Dont worry I did not forget fella :P Mate it really does look absolutely stunning fella. I have said it before but it really is a credit to you mate. Such attention to detail no wonder you are in the concours club. Truly deserved :applaud:

Hope you don't mind but feel its only proper to share this picture of yours that a guy on Capri World took from a different angle to your pic...put a big :D on y face did this...and gald you got a good spot on the grass...not too much mud on your tyres

Anyhows thanks again for the great pics Andrew. The show season is well and truly up and running.....

All the best

Hi Rob,
Thanks very much! One of the highlights of the day was the short convoy through the town centre to the show. A 12 Capri convoy, the biggest I've ever been part of! :D

Hi Nick,
Obviously it had rained heavily the day before, so the grass was very wet and muddy. I nearly turned around and went home when I first saw the state of it!
The grey Laser looked nice and original. A quick search of the registration reveals that it was recently sold at auction for £3000.

There is even a photo with the bonnet open. Wow, that must be the second cleanest engine in existence after a certain B112! :D
Thanks for your kind words about my car and the extra photo.

Hi Andy,
What show would be complete without an ultimate green Focus RS?
Perhaps you buying another Capri isn't a bad idea? The itch must be getting pretty bad now after a few years absence! :D
Thanks for the compliment about my car, but I fear you may be sadly disappointed when you see it in person.

All the best,

Lovely show of cars. My favorite has to be the white MK2 3.0S, my dream Capri. (Except from yours of course Andrew!)

Hi Paul,
It was my first time at this show, so I was a little unsure of what to expect. I think the turn out was good enough to justify the travel, and I've already pencilled it in for next year. Weather permitting.... :)
I didn't used to like the mk2 Capri very much, but over the last few years it's really grown on me. I like the Dutch JPS, owned by a nice chap who has recently picked up an immaculate Laser in strato silver. Lucky man!

All the best,
Andrew.
