Deal Classic car show (pic heavy!)

Post by Peter-S »

Woke to bright sunshine this morning but there were some ominous dark clouds on the horizon - in the direction of Deal! Sure enough a nice thunderstorm brewed and it was soon peeing down. However working on the basis that the weather would pass through we headed to Deal anyway and, sure enough, by the time we got there, the weather was breaking and it turned into a great day. A cracking show as well. I was impressed with the quantity and number of cars there. Also caught up with Nick and met Steve (Stish on here) and generally had a good day.
So here's some pictures. There was far too much to catch everything but first up some Capris, starting with Nicks since he alerted me to the show :D

What an excellent set of pictures Peter. Looked a great day out, well worth taking the trip in unsettled weather, you never know what turnout you'll get but this looked fantastic, some really unusual cars too, like that Chevy Impala estate. Really like the blue mk1 Granada too not to mention the Capri's, which were well presented.
Cheers for posting,
Rob

Hi Peter,
Thanks for sharing your excellent photos.
It looks like an amazing show with a great variety of cars, particularly the Fords and the American stuff. Being an ex-owner of one, it's also a treat to see a Chevette in such excellent condition too.

Andrew.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for loading up these fantastic pics of today. Cant really add alot to these as they are so brilliant and you have captured the day spot on mate. Nice one !

It was great to meet you again and your wife too. Had a really nice chat with you both. Glad the weather made your decision to come worthwhile. Shame you just missed me mopping up the "wet stuff" off my car though after that mighty downpour ! Anyway thanks very much for taking the time to pop over and say hello :D

Was great to meet Steve too. Really nice chap indeed ! So glad you got a great pic of his Capri Peter as I walked all the way back up to him a bit later on to take some pics of his car but he had gone...so walked the mile back and got bleedin sunburnt

Peter I had a really good chat with the owner of that white 2.8i. He is over on Capri Power. He was telling me his 2.8i was used in a crime watch reconstruction a while back. He once loaded up a car transporter just with Capri's for a photoshoot for Retro Ford Mag !

Anyway hope you don't mind me adding just a few more pics to your brilliant selection.

This takes me back a bit

Anyway I hope you enjoyed the extra pics. As said I really enjoyed this show. A superb array of cars and great music too. The announcer 'announced' that near on 800 cars were there on display as the show stretched for a mile down the seafront. Will def think about coming again next year.

All the best

Nick

Thanks Nick, blush!

Yes it was good to catch up and certainly worth the trip over. I guessed the rain would pass once we got there and it did. We sat in the car for ten minutes just to make sure and then it was glorious.
I was telling Rebecca about a friend getting quite sunburned at Duxford yesterday and she tut tutted as he didn't go prepared but today it was her turn to get caught out
The event was much bigger than I expected and we ended up having lunch there as there was so much to see. Could have stopped longer but there was gardening to do before sitting down for the cup final later on :)
Anyway, your car was looking good despite the shock of the unscheduled soaking. Your welcome to swing by if you get the chance when your 'down south'. As for next year I'm almost tempted to participate :o

Great pics and glad you got one of mine not highlighting the paint issues. Hopefully get that sorted this week! Really nice to meet you as well! Some fantastic cars there yesterday and have to say, Nicks is as good as it looks! Just a little bit jealous :o
Hopefully we'll meet again soon!

My wife laughed when she read this post (she'd been looking at the pictures) as the Chevette was the only shot I took where she said why do you want a picture of that
