CCI Nationals 2017
Good Morning,
I hope that everyone is well. As you are all aware, the CCI Nationals took place on Sunday 7th May. It was a superb day in all aspects: the weather, the people and, of course, the cars. Here are some photos of some interesting cars, in no particular order.
Overview of the show. As you can see, wonderful weather and a great turnout of cars. I didn't count them (even I'm not that sad!) there must have been close to 100 in total.
Capri Club International 2017 by Andrew 2.8i, on Flickr
I'll start with this splendid 3000GT.
Ford Capri 3000 GT JLK812K by Andrew 2.8i, on Flickr

Hi Andrew,
Some great Capri's there, made all the better with some sunshine I can't believe the amount of Capri's in the public carpark
Well done with your award, definitely worthy with all the work you put into your car. Looking forward to seeing it at QS later this year
Thanks for taking the time to take and upload pictures

Yes, there were a few. I'm not sure whether they parked there because the showfield was almost full, or whether they decided to not exhibit their cars. There were loads more that I couldn't take photos of, as they came and went before I wandered over to them.
Thanks Andy. Totally unexpected, and I dare say perhaps a controversial decision as there were plenty of cars there that were a much higher standard than mine.andyd wrote:Well done with your award, definitely worthy with all the work you put into your car.

From what I'm hearing on Facebook it was used as the overflow area, as they didn't allow enough room in the main show area. One of the many complaints about the showAndrew 2.8i wrote:Hi Andy, andyd wrote: I can't believe the amount of Capri's in the public carpark

Personally I wouldn't be happy about parking my Capri on that long grass, but I guess it was fairly dry.

I suppose that's the trouble if you don't take all bookings in advance, you may not have enough room...sheff wrote:From what I'm hearing on Facebook it was used as the overflow area, as they didn't allow enough room in the main show area. Who knows how many are going to turn up on the day? I sometimes just turn up and pay on the day and hope there is space.

The show was much busier than it has been on the previous occasions that I've been there, maybe CCI had underestimated the anticipated attendance.andyd wrote:I suppose that's the trouble if you don't take all bookings in advance, you may not have enough room...
Some late arrivals parked in the main showfield though, so I guess that the option was there.

Wow ! Nice one Andrew thats brilliant fella and extremely well deservedAndrew 2.8i wrote: I won 2nd place in the concours mark 3 competition! Although I didn't turn up to the show expecting an award, it is wonderful, and a great honour, to receive a little recognition for the hours of work put into the car.
All in all, it was a brilliant day out.
To get an award in the Concours class is about as good as it gets and as I have been lucky enough to see your stunning 2.8i in the flesh its no surprise....and about time !
Great Capri's there mate. Some of the best in the country....or World in the case of that 280 !! Great to see Dan finally drove himself there....must have been a brilliant day for him. Always great to see his Laser. What a selection of Capri's to drool over !
Yep as Neil said some mixed reviews over on Capri World. By the sound of it the number of Capri's turning up was not expected/planned for so they were being ushered into the visiters field with long grass. One poor chap though was buying a gearbox I think it was for £375 plus delivery but he decided and agreed to collect it from the show so when he turned up to pay the £375 and take it away Mr John Hill told him it was now £475 !! Not good.....
Anyway glad you had a great day Andrew made all the better with your well deserved concours award. You done the forum proud old chap !
All the best and thanks for posting the pics.
Nick

Hi Jason,
Congratulations on your richly deserved gold award. You've got a very nice car indeed.
Andrew.
Thanks, but it's the cars that are great!Jasonmarie wrote:Some great pictures there
I didn't know that. I'm not sure where I was at the time...Jasonmarie wrote: somebody did go looking for you when the awards were being given out.

It was a fantastic turnout of cars, and possibly the biggest gathering since the 45th anniversary at Brooklands?Fordoholic Nick wrote:By the sound of it the number of Capri's turning up was not expected/planned for
I'm still getting over the very high standard of cars on display, and I apologize to the owners if I did actually drool over their cars!
My pleasure.Fordoholic Nick wrote:All the best and thanks for posting the pics.

Belongs to Nick Matteri if you weren't sure. He's brought it to our annual forum get together sometimes.
Nice pictures Andrew. I was surprised by the weather, we had grey cloud in Kent all day until about 4. Oh well.

Thanks, it's always a pleasure to post photos for people to enjoy. Yes, Worcestershire was the place to be yesterday....everyone had a great day except, apparently, the members of Capri World on FB....
I forgot to take a sun hat and I'm regretting it today!

At first, I honestly thought Andrew was a motoring journalist with that professional camera taking pictures for an article. It was only when he guessed my username and then told me who it was that I got stopped in my tracks!
Great photos as I myself did not take any so its good to see the cars that made it to the show.

Re: CCI Nationals 2017
Hi Andrew
Cracking pictures of some great Capri's and a more than deserved award to top off what sounded like a great day....
Ive read good and poor reports about the event but great weather and a bunch of like minded people will do for me. The only negative for me would be parking in the tall grass with the 2.8 but the 2.0 goes everywhere lol
Cheers, Des

I had a great day looking at fantastic cars. I also met up with Caprifan Rob, Big Mike, Martin (Caprigear), mellow-yellow, dan the capri fan, A17TLF from the forum and countless other Capri enthusiasts and that made the day for me.
Perhaps next year they'll get the mower out if they hear in advance that you'll be going!Bertie wrote: The only negative for me would be parking in the tall grass with the 2.8 but the 2.0 goes everywhere lol
