Simply Ford 2017

Post by sheff »

Had a great day out at Beaulieu with Danny, Andy and the XROC chaps and nice to meet Gareth and his young lad who popped along as visitors. The day started off dry but cold, then we had some rain about 1.00pm and decided to leave early as most people were starting to go.
The show was busier than last year which was a pleasant surprise considering the forecast. Took a few photo's and hopefully Danny can add a few more.

The 2 sole Capri's on the XROC stand

Danny's lovely new wheels which really improves the looks of his car :)

Andy's rather nice XR4x4 (if you like Sierra's :) )

And the old sign that he needed when he had a Capri

The rest of the gang

Probably the best car of the day!

And some others to give you a taste of what you missed!

There were loads more, but I just didn't get enough time to take more photo's this year.

Looking forward to the next meet at Brooklands now. Hopefully the weather will be kinder

All the best

Hi Neil,
Thanks for uploading these photos for us to drool over! It looks like a fantastic turn out of cars, and all of them look amazing. I'm glad you had a good day, but I'm gutted to have missed out....
The XROC cars, especially the two forum Capris and the forum Sierra (!) all look absolutely superb.
It's good to see lots of non-forum Capris and some nice Granadas too, there weren't many there last year.
I also like the replica GT40s....very tasty indeed!

I hope to see you, Danny and maybe even Andy out and about at some point this year. I'm guessing you aren't going to the CCI National next weekend though.......

All the best,
Andrew.

Cheers Andrew... Yeah we'll catch up later in the year at Bristol. And you're right I won't be going to the CCI National, but hope you have a great time and come away with a well deserved award again :D

Great photos Neil, looked a big turnout even though weather wasn't the best. Plenty of great Capris & XR's, particularly like the Mustangs too. Getting to be a big fan of the RS 1600i Escort lately, that one looks good in white. Looked a great show. Cheers for posting.

Hi Neil,
Thanks for posting the pics.
:sorry: But the best car of the day was a white XR4X4 with 'The Sign'

Alot of more modern cars this year, lets hope it doesn't turn into Focus Fair :(

Weather was a little better than expected, and we left about 3.30, Danny left a while before.
That Gazebo is a Godsend on days like today, although a pain in the ass to take down when wet and windy

Best car of the day ( :D ) all cleaned and gone back to sleep for another couple of weeks.

Great to meet old and new faces, and thanks for making the effort and braving the weather :)

(Tired) Andy :sleepy:

P.S. Will do my best to get to Queens Square this year, when I haven't got an XR Meet :)

Hey guys,

Was a great day to see some great cars so sorry to anyone who didn't come along... the rain didn't start until late in the day so was good to see some lovely motors! I don't have many other pictures and they certainly aren't as good as Neil's but here goes...

Personally one of my favourite finds of the day was another 2.0 GL Auto! Never seen another around and according too howmanyleft.com there are only like 13left in the UK (including mine :))

Also a very nice Mk1, probably one of my favourites of the day

Thanks for Andy and the XROC guys for letting us park up today and use your gazebo when the rain started coming down!

Not sure if I am coming to the Nationals next week, to be perfectly honest this is the first I am hearing of it  Will decide this week and see how it rolls....

Cheers guys
Danny

Hi Danny,
Thanks for adding the extra photos, I really enjoyed looking through them.
Those two blokes by the Granadas must have been having a good chinwag. They're in Neil's photo and they haven't moved an inch by the time you took yours!

Funny, I didn't notice that  Looks immaculate Andy, you know how to pic the best of the crop. Hope you can make a Bristol meet this year when I can so I can see it in all its glory.

Thanks for the extra pictures Danny, looked a great show, have to agree with you on the Auto Capri, it looks in great shape.

Hi chaps,

Yep as said some great pics. Thanks for posting them. Great to hear there was still a decent turnout despite the weather including you chaps and the XROC boys :applaud:

It was strange wakiing up today not having gone. TBH i did not miss the weather but more the meeting up with you guys. Hope to catch up with some of you real soon.

Neil I was really looking forward to seeing your 2.8i fella. Hopefully I will be 'allowed out to play' for the Brooklands meet in a few weeks. Surely it cant rain again

Danny well done for making the trip on your own in the end especially as you had not been before. No doubt you paid a visit to the museum. Great aint it ! Glad to see another close up of your 7.5's fella. Nice one !

Andy thats one lovely Sierra you got there mate. Looks in superb condition. I think White is the best colour for these without a doubt :)

Anyway sorry once again I bottled it re the weather  However I did spend a couple of hours with B122 in the garage to help cheer me up from missing Simply Ford so was not all gloom.....

All the best

Nick

Thanks Rob,
SOO isn't perfect, but a really nice tidy car for it's age and drives well with it's 2.9 V6 :D

Re QS, August or September are the only 2nd of the month Sundays I have free atm, but still have one show to come in around that time....
Would be nice to come up when everyone can make it :)

Andrew.
Hi Andrew,
I have quite a few spare Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season, but always seem to have something that clashes with QS

Fingers crossed nothing comes up Aug/Sept :)

Singleton Park will probably be wet today looking at the forecast :(

Hi Andy,
Yes, sadly this weekend has been a complete wash-out. I won't be going to Singleton Park now. As you said, it's been dry for weeks with hardly any rain, then when it comes to a show weekend the heavens open. Typical!

Cheers Rob,
I agree the RS1600i is a lovely car and this one was a very good example. A chap at work has just bought one and hopefully he'll bring it to Simply Ford next year :D

I had a great day Andy and didn't mind taking a few photo's. Cheers for arranging this every year and hope you keep doing it for us. And that is a lovely XR4x4 bet its lovely to drive and much better handling than a Capri :drive: Mine was a real handful driving back, got the tracking adjusted today and found it was way out which might have contributed to the strange handling characteristics in the wet!

All the best

Hi Everyone,
I had a good poke around this car last year. It's totally original and, in my opinion, it's flawless too. The owner was a nice chap who was happy to chat about the car.
